Origins of the "Singing Sections"

Everybody felt that seated Ibrox was like a morgue but there was also resentment about the enclosure being turned into seats and the new club deck being built. Could be wrong but loads of what became The Blue Order were from the enclosure and were moved to BF4/5. Three other "singing sections" developed - one in the "Family Section" (FS Loyal) , one in the Club Deck (Club Deck Loyal) and the other in the Copland Rear (mainly the side at the Govan) who christened themselves the "Union Bears".

For years our singing section was the Blue Order, who met in the Clachan before games. Housed in BF4 beside the opposition and eventually moved to BF1 TBO got older and being joined by the Union Bears faded a bit into the background.

And your point Stevie ?

There was the brass band in the Broomloan before the blue order or the union bears. They were awful

 Using a different keyboard -one with a touchpad v mouse and must have posted before finishing, and as you say, fell asleep.

The point of the post was going to be that we successfully developed singing sections around the ground and it would be great if we could encourage that in our own areas. I know that there are groups of fans that like to sing elsewhere, not to rival the Union Bears or any other singing sections but to get the acceptable tunes round the ground quicker. It's easier at away games, but many at Ibrox have a real affinity with the stand they are in. Places like the East Enclosure and Copland Road used to be tremendous when they got going.

The younger ones who want to move on and join the lads in BF could do so. It would be ideal to have that whole front stand as a singing section, but also pockets around the ground as a coalition of the willing with their own wee groups.

Spontaneity is absolutely brilliant but organisation in groups around the stadium could help in the quest to bring back maybe some of the old Rangers tunes that many of the Union Bears are not so used to and also together to make sure that any songs that get us in trouble aren't picked up. It's up to us all as a club support to sing the songs that lift the team, and not necessarily to blame the singing section or expect them entirely to self-police.
