Coronavirus, possible League season declared" null and void".

Whit? That's got to be a joke. Governments out there acting like this is the Rage virus from 28 days later.
Exactly...something like 80000 cases, out of a 7 billion population. Most of which are in one locked down area. With a less than 2% mortality rate, mainly hitting old folk, many of whom would die from a strong dose of the flu.

What are they not telling us? Because otherwise this seems like overreaction.

This virus is a potential massive problem. Although, it is clearly not being dealt with very well by the governments by allowing open travel and minimal checks. Lots of people coming from affected areas being surprised that there are no checks around the airports etc.

All seems a bit like Trump's idea of the virus. Not a big deal really.

Would be mental if football leagues etc. are affected but it is a concern with the mass amount of travelling around and minimal protection.

I thought it was a bit of a silly comment about it spreading globally so quickly but by %^*& it's getting about rapid.

Mortality rate is now 3.4% and it is now in every continent (with exception of Antarctica) and will likely be in every country in a matter of weeks.

To put that 3.4% in perspective, the Spanish flu of 1918 had a 2.5% mortality rate. It killed around 40 million people.

The worry is not about half the world population being wiped out. It’s the effects on the economy in a highly connected globe.

And SARS had a mortality rate of around 10%. We all just carried on with it. Wonderful thing statistics.

It's a virus, they can mutate and become something different entirely.

The death rate might be low but the infection rate is the highest in modern history, it's a big concern

Yeah but that presupposes that folk who have it carry on regardless when symptoms show and that they come into contact with lots of folk each who do the same. And while symptoms don’t show immediately some folk will know they’ve been in an area with cases and self isolate. Plus there’s the actual contact angle. Not everyone coughs on each other or walks about touching people’s skin.

Daily Mail reporting Liverpool could miss out on being champions if the football season is stopped due to the coronavirus.
Imagine the meltdown if 9 a row is null and void.
What a shame if that happens!
Imagine anybody reading that story in the daily mail and thinking there's even a 1% chance of any truth in it.

From what I have read in various European news agencies the virus is still to peak and this will be within a couple of months. Mostly likely a ban on overseas travel is likely so could effect Euros and all the domestic European fixtures.

Was it right next to the stories about Islamic state targeting British holidaymakers in Turkey and Britain set for the hottest summer on record Haha.

CFR has nothing to do with anything you have posted. It is simply the amount of people who contract the virus that end up dying as a result. Yes, the number of infected is at the moment quite low, but it has spread all over the globe.

Although you are right about not everyone coughing on each other and/ or touching each others skin. However, let me give you a scenario. Person A) has unwittingly come in to contact with the virus and orders a parcel. The delivery driver arrives at their home at which point they hand over their electronic device to gain a signature. The virus is now on that device. That delivery driver is visiting another hundred or so houses where he will hand over that contaminated device...

No chance the sfa would ever allow their beloved poops to not get 9 in a row, they'd still award them the trophy!
Yep , would just suspend the league and award it based on season was (insert) % complete.

Ps then if they had any spare time they could finally go on that tour of Japan.

Depends how long the virus remains ‘live’ on that device. They don’t know for sure yet but in most cases it’s a matter of hours, or even minutes. All a bit hypothetical.

I have an Iranian friend who posted a letter from the health minister who has the virus to the leader of Iran and the figures are 9700 infected in Iran with 458 deaths that was 5 or 6 days ago. That's a far higher death rate than the fudged figures from China.
