Andre Gray

You must have earphones in as there is worse said at Ibrox and away games every week.

What's that got to do with my point? Also I've never heard anyone talk about killing/burning gays at Ibrox, and I never said the guy shouldn't get a 2nd chance either.

I expect those tweets to be dragged up all over the place if we sign him. And rightfully or wrongly it wont bode well with the everyone anyone campaign the club has been trying so hard to push. In fact I'd go as far to say it's a massive own goal for the campaign, which will probably suffer from it with supporters & the media using that signing to discredit us and make a mockery of it. The signing wouldn't make a lot of sense to me from that side of things.

Regardless if he signs for us I'll give him a fair chance like I would with any other player we sign.

Ajeti? Weren't we linked with him earlier in the window?

Never seen him play but recognise his name from somewhere. Didn't do anything at West Ham it seems but had a good record at Basel.

I'm passing on info I've been given. I'm not an ITK and like anyone else I'll be sceptical unless it's in Orange Font on here
Yeah I know mate it wasn’t a dig at you. Was more a general point that we have two admins on here that get more info than anyone else

Option to buy for £5m. Career stagnated at West Ham but was supposedly good for Basel, seems like it’ll be a good signing for the ba$tard$

No offence to you OP but continually on here we see post after post saying our targets are "shite" "past it" "underwhelmed" and when their signings are mentioned they get praised. Crazy place at times

Know absolutely nothing about him, but asked a lad I know who follows the Hammers home and away and his reply was.....

"He's absolutely shit. Forgot he was still here."

So did Moyes it would appear. They played Antonio at CF. Granted he scored goals bu t that must be every position apart from GK he has played for West Ham now.

This is a massive thread based on not much is it not?

When at Burnley I really thought Gray was the real deal, then seeing him in the flesh vs us I genuinely thought he’d end at a top 6 club in England, he was absolutely dynamite.

Dunno what’s happened to him at Watford, they have been a bit of a basket case to be fair, but I’ve no idea if he could find his previous form, if he could he’d be some signing, but it’s a big IF.

I know it was only a friendly, but Gray's performance against us that day is definitely the best I've seen by an opposition forward since our demotion.

Haven't really followed his career, but something's clearly gone wrong.

Sometimes a new club can reinvigorate a player.

Just found out about his old tweets. Not sure we should be signing someone who once wrote - “Is it me or are there gays everywhere? #Burn #Die #Makesmesick”

Disgusting comments tbh and not sure how it fits in with the club's everyone anyone campaign.
He made a mistake, apologised and was punished by the fa for it. Whether with us or another club, is it right to continually punish someone for his actions of 8 years ago? I'd wager there are a few on here (myself included) who used to sing tbb at Ibrox before it was banned. Should we be punished too for going against the initiative?

The double standards of the Malky McKay apologist Graham Spiers would certainly be worth keeping an eye on.

Its a theory like that which allowed Franny Jeffers to make a career for himself out of one good season.

Every transfer for every club in the world is a risk. But that risk is mitigated for the wealthier clubs as they can spend money on “sure things”. Even then it doesn’t always work out but more often than not they get exactly what they paid for and expected.

Gone are the days that we could sign a “sure thing”. I can’t imagine ever seeing us with a Laudrup or Gascoigne ever again, so in the meantime we are forced to shop in the Andre Gray market. It isn’t ideal but let’s trust our staff hoping that we get more Alfredos than Penas.

Fans and a lot clubs in the UK seem to write-off players after they've had a bad spell or haven't played much for a season or so.

Clubs in the likes of Italy seem to be specialists at reviving careers. We should be looking at that model of signing players who otherwise we couldn't afford and trying to revive them. It shouldn't be our main policy, but it's worth a gamble on some players.

McBurnie isn't prolific yet he would be a cracking signing irrespective of what some think of him. He's a good player. He's outwith our budget though.

Firminho never hit a home goal last season (did that stat stand?), he scored 9 league goals.

Lys Moysset would get a game up top for us, he scored 6 league goals.

Leicester had a great campaign, Inheanacho bagged 5 league goals.

Origi got 4 for Liverpool.

You've sometimes got to look past the stats. I think Gray started 7 league games in 2019/20. He scored 2 league goals.

Playing on the opposition's shoulder, good movement, strong. Attributes he possesses. He's shown in the past that he can score. Is the hunger and desire still there?
