If the rain is off, could the ref take both teams off for 10 minutes to give the ground staff a chance to try and get some of the water away? Play out the last 10 minutes of the game in safer conditions? Right now there's a serious threat of a mis-timed tackle and an injury.

I think the players not chucking themselves into crazy slide tackles much has been a factor for the ref letting them play on. Both sets of players deserve credit.
