James Tavernier

I think the only good thing is that we haven’t lost Tav during his peak from earlier in the season.

He’s been off the boil in an attacking sense the past month or so, and with that in mind Balogun be able to fill in for the defensive side.

In the league, I’m confident even if we have Barisic and Balogun at full back that we have more than enough to depend on our attackers for attacking.

A couple of things do stand out though; we cannot lose Barisic under any circumstances and Ryan Jack now must play every game as he fills in that right hand side better than anyone.
I’d be on the phone to Croatia telling them he’s no playing there shitty international games next month.

just love all these TV medical specialists. just a knee jar / cruciate tear / cruciate strain / medial strain / medial tear.
Why don't we just let the proper medical guys diagnose it
Agree, but I can understand why people are so anxious and speculative. He is our Captain and one of our best players. Let's just hope we get good news for once.

I think the free agent this is more of a worst case scenario type(where he’s out for months). There’s a reason these players aren’t signed for clubs at this stage in the season, most of them aren’t very good. Stick with what we’ve got in balogun for a few games and then hopefully bring Patterson back in or hopefully tav is back from injury if it’s not to severe.

You’re probably the type that would’ve criticized him for pulling out of the challenge too.
If theres a 50/50 to be had and a player pulls out of am pretty sure every1 would criticise them no? Would you clap a player whos pulled out a tackle?

The free transfer stuff is pie in the sky. Unless the guy has kept "elite athlete" levels of fitness despite not being at a club, the bloke wouldn't be fit until the summer anyway

There’s a difference between criticizing a player that bottles out of a challenge & labeling our Captain & POTY “stupid” when he’s just suffered a serious injury that could see him miss the rest of the season.

The tackle was stupid regardless of who he is and what season hes had. Dont see what the issue is

I don't think Tav's injury will be as bad as people think.

A grade 3 MCL tear (which is worst case) is about 4-8 weeks recovery. With top medical assistance and plenty of rest he should be closer to the 4 weeks hopefully.

I don’t think it was “stupid” at all. It’s a challenge that’s commonplace in the game & anyone that’s kicked a ball knows how easily that injury can occur.

I just find it a bizarre view to air in lieu of the serious injury he’s picked up.

I doubt his colleagues & coaching staff will be deeming it “stupid”.

Seems that way to me also. If we say Patterson isn't an option of rather go with Balogun or Ryan Jack than a guy unattached to a club and almost certainly not being near the required level of fitness.

I get how serious the injury is. I have seen that tackle happen to a friend of mine and break his ankle in 3 places and that was just a game a 5s. Its just my opinion that going in on any 50/50 side footed is stupid as it leaves ye open to a serious injury. If you dont like my opinion thats fine but i wont change what av said as i dont think there is any issue in that me being honest.

It’s tav he’s almost superhuman . Optimistic he will be back for the game at parkhead and maybe even the last 16 if we are lucky assuming we get the job done on Thursday

saying Tav was “absolutely stupid” because of the way he tackled is disgusting, a player who’s played over 200 games but you seem to know how to tackle better....
Aw behave man stop being offended at everyhin. Just becos i havnt played the same amount a games as him dosnt mean i cant give my opinion if you dont like it thats fine

Hopefully you didn’t tell your pal he was stupid...

Agree to disagree on this.

He sort of just hung his leg as he went for it I think that's what caused the injury.

Can’t be arsed with rumors and speculation when are we likely to get the facts about Tav’s injury.

Telling that in the interview with Gerrard, he went through a list of players that could fill in, not one mention of Bassey or Patterson.

They’re done for.
Yup, mentioned all sorts filling in there - Balogun, Jack, Arfield and Kamara (!) - but never once a hint at Patterson. Also mentioned he’d been ‘let down’ by some this week. He doesn’t sound like a man in a forgiving state of mind. Not right now anyway.

What a load of garbage.
He's making split second decision in a tight situation, moving at pace. It's unfortunate, not stupid. Tav's missecd about 2 games in 5 years FFS.
Your banging on about his stupidity is about as stupid as anything I've read on this forum, and there's plenty competition :))

Hopefully Tav gets a good prognosis on his scan. He deserves to play out the season more than anyone in that squad.

Well said Sir !

they were stupid and should be fined and dealt with by the club but why should the SFA ban them when you look at the covid breaches in England and only self isolation is needed
