In one instance, Jane Hamilton, a student reporter and celtc fan, made sectarian comments about Rangers fans and fabricated a story about their behaviour at the Scottish Cup Final. This led to IPSO upholding a complaint against the newspaper. Despite this, Foote backed Hamilton and refused to take action either for her fabricated story or her sectarian Twitter posts.
In fact he arranged for her to receive an award for journalism in an attempt to troll the Rangers support.
Another of his staff members, Darren Cooney — also used sectarian slurs to describe Rangers fans in several Facebook posts — he is still the online Sports Editor and an Aberdeen fan. When his sectarian posts came to light, Foote again backed him.
The senior management's backing of their staff was curiously not forthcoming for young journalist Alan Clark, though, when pressure was applied by a certain chief executive.
An online article noted the following in the Title Stripping Saga:
Given the reliance of the Daily Record on Rangers fans for its continued survival, it is strange for their editor and senior management to take such a position on title stripping. However relations between the newspaper and Rangers have been poor since the fabricated cup final story.
Rangers fans have already voted with their feet with many calling for an outright boycott of the publication. Every click and every share of a Daily Record story online is criticised by those who believe Rangers fans should no longer support a paper with such a clear agenda against the club.
If a widespread boycott were ever to be put in place then it would almost certainly mean the end of the title which has seen its circulation drop year on year. That doesn't seem to bother the senior management of the paper though, and they continue to back bigoted staff and pursue a clear editorial agenda which aligns them with Celtic, Aberdeen and Dundee Utd in trying to strip Rangers of several of their titles.

If there actually has been a rise in cases amongst officers but not amongst the public at the gathering then you've got to ask if it's their own procedures that need to be looked at internally.
Have they forced too many officers into vans to travel to George Square? Have they not observed distancing in their briefings beforehand?
These are the people who are supposed to be out there ensuring the public follow the restrictions yet seem to be faring worse than people who have been out all day in massive groups absolutely pished out their skull.

There are 25 kids isolating from my sons primary school class.
From one positive case.
I know there are at least 3 other classes that have been sent home to isolate, so probably somewhere around 100 pupils in just ONE primary school.

The wording of this has been intentionally been made to look as if a lot have had positive results. A good friend of mine is an officer and ONE person on his shift tested positive, so they all had to self isolate.
One or two positives would be enough for 30 to need to self-isolate. You cannot imply causation in this situation.

Given that the numbers don't back it up, its far more likely there was an outbreak linked to a police station, and those officers who travelled in the same van passed it on to their colleagues.
Anything to smear Rangers though (and we know she has previous - children used as human shields)

I work in a supermarket there has been approximately 400,000 people through the doors, never been unwell or had to isolate.. still not had the jag yet.... And yet we have 30 young healthy police officers infected.... Made up nonsense...

Most of the cops at George Sq would have been in vans, on stand-by ready to deal with any serious trouble, which didn't occur.
I doubt there would have been much more than 30 cops actually in George Sq, so did they all catch Covid? If they did, what is the point of face masks, as all cops were wearing them, unlike most of the other people in attendance.
The real reason the police are self-isolating:
Unlike front-line health & care workers, police officers have not been prioritised to get the Covid vaccine and they are not happy. I fully understand this, as front-line cops are dealing with breaking up house parties, getting spat at and can't exactly maintain social distancing whilst arresting someone, so they are at high risk of catching Covid whilst doing their job.
Due to this, cops have been told that if they feel they have been exposed to risk, then they should self-isolate. If we can't go for a meal or a hair cut due to the risk being too great, it would be hard to argue that they weren't exposed to some sort of risk in George Sq.
In times of working under extreme stress, I don't think many would need too much persuasion to self-isolate and take 10 days off work on full pay.
If Hamilton has a problem with those 30 cops self-isolating, maybe she should look at why the Government haven't given cops the vaccine to reduce risk, rather than take the opportunity of working to her own biased and bigoted agenda.
