I think this is part of the problem. FIFA are very aware of the financial clout that European clubs and UEFA have. I feel that they're trying to flex their muscles and prove that they are the dominant force in world football. It may well backfire on them.Uefa should walk away from Fifa.
Without the Europeans they have nothing.
Apart from FIFA's bank account, who benefits from this proposal?
Surely no country's football competitions or clubs do.
A World Cup every two years would have its up sides and down sides.
4 years is a bit too long a gap, the best players only go up against each other 3 or 4 times in their career, with a two year gap they would play each 6-8 times in their career.

Is Wenger not the driving force behind it?Expect to see lots of ex pros and ex managers come out in support of a 2 year WC over the next year.
FIFA will be paying them to support it.
What a load of shite. The best players in the world play each other every season various times in the Champions League.A World Cup every two years would have its up sides and down sides.

Not a bad shoutI wouldnt mind a world cup every two years if they did away with all the qualifiers and just had the top 32 countries in the world.
Ticket sales and tv rights spring to mind for the SFA if Scotland backs a 2 year World Cup. Stupid idea non the lessApart from FIFA's bank account, who benefits from this proposal?

This is exactly that. What makes it special is the rarity of a World Cup winner's medal. Have it every two years it will quickly become like the Champions league. Too much of a good thing kills it.That helps with the prestige of the WC though
Realistically top players might only get 2/3 chances of winning it in their career. To give them 5/6 chances devalues the whole trophy
Good on them.
WC every two years would be ridiculous.
So how do you break into the top 32 without qualifiers? Thats basically a closed shop like the super league.I wouldnt mind a world cup every two years if they did away with all the qualifiers and just had the top 32 countries in the world.
Do the nordics season usually go into wc months.
talk is if this goes through, uefa will press for the euros every two as well.
And how are European Championships going to be able to take place. If the World Cup is every 2 years.Uefa should walk away from Fifa.

Ask AngieWhat a load of shite. The best players in the world play each other every season various times in the Champions League.
Who exactly are the players plying their trade in Asia, The Americas, Africa and Oceania that you're greeting about not see play?
Most probably UEFA sanctions too. Can’t have folk stopping the gravy train.Wat are the implications of leaving FIFA?
Besides not taking part in the World Cup and / or qualifiers?
UEFA are also dead against a World Cup every two years. Most probably UEFA sanctions too. Can’t have folk stopping the gravy train.
