Nordic football association threatening to leave fifa

The truth is it doesn't suit many countries
But I wonder how many will step up & say so - rather than bow to FIFA pressure?

There's enough disruption with the next World Cup being held in December - without potential similar problems repeating every 2 years

The trouble is though - if it's only the Scandinavian countries boycotting- I can see FIFA pressing ahead regardless
 
UEFA should aswell tell FIFA to f**k off , all european countries should then all FIFA would have is a shite competition
 
FIFA have always been jealous of UEFA because they are the top dogs in world football and only cover one continent.

The World Cup is hugely popular as it is a one off event, every 4 years. Its what makes it so special.
 
Said it before, but it bears repeating. The easiest way to clean up Fifa, with it's corruption and giving world cups to Russia, Qatar and whatnot, would be for the "big five" nations to boycott a world cup. There is no Fifa without the big countries.

The guy has sold all of his morals for a wage from FIFA, the Arsene Wenger of Arsenal would never be calling for a world cup every two years, wouldn't want 30 minute halves or sin bins etc.

A World Cup every two years would have its up sides and down sides.

4 years is a bit too long a gap, the best players only go up against each other 3 or 4 times in their career, with a two year gap they would play each 6-8 times in their career.

They have the euros and the champions League, plus league football to go up against the best players in the world. That is plenty, are the players never to get any time off.

The best players are up against each other every season in the champions league.
 
Nordic countries won’t have much sway but if the big European powerhouses back the Nordic countries it’s a non starter

Spain, France, Germany, Italy, England, Portugal, Holland could all get together and veto this nonsense before it gains traction

FIFA are looking at the inconceivable UEFA generate in the 3 years there isn’t a WC and want to increase their own income

What a load of shite. The best players in the world play each other every season various times in the Champions League.

Who exactly are the players plying their trade in Asia, The Americas, Africa and Oceania that you're greeting about not see play?

That helps with the prestige of the WC though

Realistically top players might only get 2/3 chances of winning it in their career. To give them 5/6 chances devalues the whole trophy
 
Sadly, a lot of football associations will be all for it. More international games and competitions means more money coming into them, not to mention more paid for foreign jollies.

It will be up to the big clubs and players to veto it, possibly via Uefa. Who themselves will then probably want the Euros running every two years, but can’t as they know the big clubs would threaten to breakaway again.
 
I wouldnt mind a world cup every two years if they did away with all the qualifiers and just had the top 32 countries in the world.

Ticket sales and tv rights spring to mind for the SFA if Scotland backs a 2 year World Cup. Stupid idea non the less
 
European associations should have threatened this when FIFA pushed ahead with Qatar. They've massively reduced the attraction of their own premier event and I think it's overdue there was a breakaway isolating FIFA and making them ever more irrelevant.

This is exactly that. What makes it special is the rarity of a World Cup winner's medal. Have it every two years it will quickly become like the Champions league. Too much of a good thing kills it.

Pele is the only player to have won three times. Only twenty players have won it twice. It should remain special.
 
The world cup every four years was exciting as a kid and as I got older.
still is it makes it special up to the gave it to Qatar and moved it to the winter bloody spoiled the magic now this pish every two years bollocks to that.

The end game will obviously end up with football on constantly. We’re not far off now with international tournaments, how early European competition starts, the made up “friendly tours” the big clubs jet off to every summer..

You’ll get 12 months of football every year with your European Super League, and you’ll enjoy it.

UEFA are also dead against a World Cup every two years.

If anything they’d stick up for these countries.

A biennial World Cup won’t happen in any case. No one wants it apart from the FIFA blazers, and they really don’t hold much clout anymore.
