When we eventually get a new manager should we go with a 12 rolling contract in case it doesn't work out or give him the 3 year deal
That’s like getting married and pre arranging a divorce lawyer beforehandall depends on who it is, but I would tend to go for the rolling contract just now, as we cannot afford to keep paying compensation.
Should be a rolling contract maybe 18 months to start with 1 yearly thereafter.
If the new proposed Manager is all ready employed then he would probably be looking for something more secure to entice him to move.
The Candidates that are not employed at moment will accept shorter contracts and the 1 year roll on offer and wont have the added compensation package thrown in.
Lots off things for the Board to take into account as they draw up their Shortlist.
Not sure how that works with a rolling contract...
Yes they do. Unless contract says otherwise you have to pay the year’s money. The bonus of a rolling contract is if it does not work out the club don't have to pay compo to get rid.
The problem is if you want the manager it'll be on terms agreeable to him. Agreeable to the club too but if you think it's a straight forward matter of stating this is what you get in the event of being sacked ... it isn't.You insert a clause in the contract that says in the event of dismissal the guy is entitled to x. If he leaves for another club the compo is y.
Sorted.
Obviously it's an agreement. It'll depend on both parties and the confidence they have in it succeeding. The problem is if you want the manager it'll be on terms agreeable to him. Agreeable to the club too but if you think it's a straight forward matter of stating this is what you get in the event of being sacked ... it isn't.
