75% of games not played

It was always Going to be a possibility that covid would peak again so there was a major argument that last season should have been. Completed in full and 20-21 designed around the remaining time ie just home and away with split at that point going home and away to reduce fixture demand but Timmy had to get their tainted 0.75 of a title So reason and common sense got chucked.
 
Even Celtic themselves won’t want this season haunted from now. It would cost them millions in TV and season ticket refunds.
 
If for any reason the league is called early the same rules will apply as last season.Points per game.
The league requires final positions for European places and money to be dispersed to teams according to their league place.
I think the league would only be called early if the snp government ordered it.
I don't think the TV companies and sponsors would be so understanding if the decision was made by the sfa/spfl board and they won't to lose any cash from them.
 
Well, we will have the champions league spot if it is called.... Using the same argument as last year

We had played 76.3% of our games (29/38).

Irrespective, none of us should be wanting more covid outbreaks at any club. The more there are, the more likely they are to pause or cancel fixtures. The Euros and early EL/CL qualifiers put much more pressure on this season to be completed in time.
 
They'll be trying to get our result today voided next because Stevie G couldnt get his mark to stay up

75% might be their agenda but the fact is there is no specific number. And move to stop the season and either void it or declare a champion will come down to a vote between the clubs just like last year. At the end of the day, what happens regarding TV money will have a large say in the decision .

Exactly, with the vaccination programme about to pick up pace the worst that could happen is a pause in the season.
 
They are saying 75% because the minimum amount of games any team in the top flight had played last season was 29 (76% of the 38 games) and they would try and claim that as precedent Hence why they are in no rush to complete their games in hand.

However, they are also talking pish....
 
I don’t want given a title I want it won. But, if they cancel the season I want it given to us, like last season!

This is what they want, to go to a vote that they can and will corrupt.
Football should continue anyway, tiny proportion of people, staying safe ( apart from the scum ), and giving great benefit to people's spirits in tough times.

Can we not make one thread for this cancelling the season, null & void pish and make it a sticky?

Just ask them to prove it, and ask them to point out the regulations that state this to be the case.

They will soon quieten down then.
 
Best thing to do with any of the null and void lot is to ask what they think the insurers will do, and whether they’d want to recoup their payouts from the club(s) responsible for getting the league stopped.

I wouldn't put money on that. 6 more league games takes us to the middle of February, 5/6 weeks away......a hell of a long time in Covid UK.

IMHO as soon as ONE club from our top league has a serious outbreak (5 or 6 players testing positive) the season will be put on hold. Finances will have a big bearing on how things are played out but there is only ONE club that genuinely wants the league played to a finish and thats us, and one club that would like to have the season called Null & Void and that's them. Everyone else, finances aside, probably doesn't give a damn.

Gid forbid the season is halted and the clubs once more are asked to vote on how to wrap up the league. I can imagine the fans of most clubs wanting to have another laugh at our expense and pushing for their club to vote to call the season Null and Void.
 
It's actually pitiful the way they're going on now, wanting the season null and void because they've been so utter shite. If we were less than 50% through, they'd be claiming the threshold is over 50% to award the league, now we're past that the claim's shifted to 75% of games. Once we've passed that, I'm sure they'll then starting banging on about 'sporting integrity' etc... and claim the league can't be awarded without completing 100% of the games, without any hint of irony or self awareness. It's what they do.
 
The league is going to be completed. The problem last time was that nobody knew anything about COVID and there were no protocols for dealing with it. We also saw the EPL and other leagues being played safely to a conclusion last time.

We are hopefully past the worst of it, the population is beginning to be vaccinated and footballers and football teams (should - ha! ) have the protocols to protect their players and staff.

Keep saying this, and people don't take it seriously. The Government could just stop sport. Then the shenanigans begins from Lawell and his rats. We should consider it as a possibility, that's all, just be aware of the possibility and pre-empt it
Football must show that it can be played safely. It's good for millions of people stuck at home on a downer. Get that message out to the authorities. Forget the SFA etc, they are corrupted and poisoned.
 
There is no 75% or 70% “rule” this year just like there was no “rule” last year. The “season” is over 38 games and they were only “awarded” the title last year after a vote from all the clubs.

If and it’s a massive “if” the season doesn’t get finished this year then the same will happen again regardless of how many games are played as the precedent has been set. It won’t come to that as there is absolutely no reason to stop the season.

So basically, as usual, they are taking pish and are desperate.

Is it because they’ve had a player testing positive for covid, that suddenly we think the league will be stopped.?? Along with their fans stirring their usual lies.??
