F*cking idiots.

A group of Aberdeen players were spoken to by police, but not issued with a warning, while training close together in a city park.

Since the Scottish Premiership outfit closed its Cormack Park and Pittodrie bases, the players have been given a training programme to do remotely.

Midfielder Funso Ojo posted a picture on Instagram on Monday of the incident.

Aberdeen said the players did train, but that it was in an open space and not part of an organised session.

They added that the players followed guidelines regarding social distancing and that police gave them advice about spreading out further across the park.

The remote training programme is their work. Not meeting up and training in a park.

I agree, just wondering if their argument is that's them doing their job as directed by their employer.

Makes no difference, they can't do it in a park.

Can I go to the park?

You can still go to the park for outdoor exercise once a day but only alone or with members of your household, not in groups.

Communal places within parks such as sports courts, playgrounds and outdoor gyms have been closed to protect everyone’s health.

We ask that households use parks responsibly and keep 2 metres apart from others at all times.

Unless you are with members of your household, gatherings of more than two people in parks and other public spaces have been banned. The police have the powers to disperse gatherings and issue fines if necessary.

Didn’t think that was allowed if they were furloughed, I take it Aberdeen didn’t furlough any of their players just the non playing staff.
They already said they couldn’t furlough playing staff because they were effectively still working for the club by doing training sessions etc. Didn’t mean they had to all meet up in the local park to do them though!

Social distancing not being adhered to as clearly the ball could potentially be a transmission vector for the virus. Fines required. :))

The polis advice about ' spreading across the park' is probably better coaching than Mcinnes gives them

No problem staying 2m away from other players, every time they play the scum it looks like they're not even on the same pitch!

Preparing for their futures.

A kick about in a park is what they have to look forward to.

Imagine if that were some if our players. The compliance officer would have them up in a flash. If that is not bringing the game into disrepute then what is?

Only a day after McInnes was in the local paper praising the players for their discipline and professionalism in how they have gone about their training at home and doing what the government wants in terms of social distancing and isolation.

If they trained at the pace they play Timmy at, surely that would have counted as being out for a walk.

Key worker is a misnomer. You are allowed to go to your place of work if unable to work at home.
No you are not. You keep saying this. You can go to ‘essential’ work, if it cannot be done from home. Football and many other jobs are not classed as essential work.

It has been on the news all day, every day for nigh on 3 weeks.

You are factually incorrect.

Read the government policy. No mention whatsoever of key/essential workers only.
