Bathgate Pyramids off the M8

Yeah, unfortunately gone now. But when I was driving home at 4pm, big up to the young lads on the bridge after with their Rangers flags, caused another bit of a traffic jam but was worth it.

Noticed them as well mate, thumbs up to the young team.

That takes me back. Used to go through from Edinburgh to Glasgow every Sunday when I was wee to visit the grandparents in Nitshill and Easterhouse. We would pass those pyramids and I loved them!

What are they???!

FFS you need to ask? :D

They are a tribute to West Lothian's industrial heritage and represent the spoil bings of shale and coal mines in the area in times past.

That's brilliant.

Wee bit of info regarding the "Pyramids"

When they were first built they cost approximately £280,000.
The material they used to build then was the dirt that was dug out from the foundations to build Motorola.
They commissioned and "Artist" (hence the hefty price) to come up with an Idea on how to make the piles of dirt look attractive from the motorway.

The original name of the piece of work was the "Saw" as it is meant to resemble saw teeth.
Spent all that money and they just had to put 55 on it for free to make it interesting!!

The Union flag on the pyramid is significant as there is now Covid Vaccination Facility at the Pyramids, I wonder who paid for the vaccines ? The SNP ?
