Benfica 7 nil at half time farce

The opponents decimated by covid, started with reduced numbers and a keeper in midfield eventually gets abandoned when they end up with six players. How the hell was this not postponed. :D

'Benfica game abandoned at 7-0 as Covid-hit opponents reduced to six men'

The away team were clearly at it and told the goalie to go out and "get an injury" just after HT.

I can't blame them. Would we want to field 9 players, including Jon McLaughlin in centre midfield?
We've played with John Lundstram there, he is a man down. But with 9 men it would be a struggle definitely.

The covid hit team probably did the right thing, shouldn't have gone ahead anyway.

Are you even a Rangers fan?
You can be a Rangers fan without thinking shite players are good or being happy when they let the team down. It's not mutually exclusive.

Or did you back and cheer some of the other shite blindly no matter how bad they were that we've had over the years too? Still got your Ian Black shirt hung up proudly?

I believe you gave him a fair chance, have taken his MotM performances and goals into account and would change your mind when he plays well again because you seem so open minded.

What's The ratio of bad to good performances before you're allowed to not rate someone?

3 good performances, 2 goals but also 15 stinkers. For a top earner, that's a little below par.

Even Benfica were embarrassed about this game going ahead but they’re saying they were forced to by the league

Tough decision, cancelling the game would open the system to abuse, with teams asking for call offs etc if they had key players out for key games. A bit like the mentally challengeds do with deaths of former players I suppose “we are so distraught we can’t play” “the game should go ahead, it’s what he would have wanted”.

This thread is about Portuguese football and their Covid rules. Why did you even bring up Lundstram?
Couple of cheap laughs?
Of course, calling any Rangers player “shite” is just, well “shite”.
Even worse is that he is bracketed with a qunt like Ian Black who became a qunt when he bet against us.

We get the point - you don't think hes very good. Is there any need to bring it up on every thread, even ones that have got nothing to do with him?

Winning games with 9 men isn’t for everyone.

I am sure there is a big thread on a Belenenses forum with fans going mental because their centre back said "the game was over" at half time. :D

just read the article, the league have the same arrogance as the SPFL.

according to the Belenenses chairman he requested a postponement on the day of the game and claims he was told if they didn't turn up it would be considered "unjustified absence"

League claims they got not formal request, they didn't specify informal though, however they will open an investigation which will look at responsibility, particularly "related to the compliance with sanitary protocols".

So not only were they forced to play a game with 9 men, no subs etc. etc. they are now looking likely to get fvcked over for COVID getting into their camp!

ffs a thread about an embarrassing match in a foreign league, and we still manage to get some Rangers player bashing in.
Take a day off and give us some peace.

Sounds like the kind of thing that would happen in Scotland, with a certain team benefiting from it.

Ludicrous. All that achieved was making Portuguese football a laughing stock.
Very true. About the only thing they could do worse than that is call their league early and hand out the prizes and relegations. That would really make them the most ridiculous league in Europe!

They clearly weren't that embarrassed if they scored 7 goals in the first half.
They could have showed some mercy.
