Clubs launch bid to bring foreign refs to Scotland (Record)

A Tim on my Facebook actually had the audacity to say that, “we might actually get a fair crack of the whip now”.

The delusion is startling. They have no awareness that better refereeing and technology would see them with far less points at this stage.

It’s quite incredible really .

“ changes to be driven by Celtic “ !!

Fck right off .

Three things need done - scrap the compliance officer role altogether , implement VAR and make our referees full time . Nothing else is needed .

All we are seein here is Celtic frantically trying to muddy the waters as they would rather things stay as they are because it suits them perfectly . Foreign referees is a joke .

Its actually fucking incredible if it is being pushed by Celtic when facts and figures show they are the ones who benefit most from Scottish refs, yet when they go into Europe they are reffed the same as anyone else.

Let's face it, our ref's are honking .

Whilst I don't believe there is open corruption i.e a conspiracy , there is undue influence brought to bear on Scottish referees by a certain clubs fans and the media in Scotland which has already poor referees performing under undue duress.

It's a recipe for disaster , as we have witnessed to our cost all too often of late.

Are foreign referees the answer , maybe to a degree , but the fact is, the whole poison atmosphere in Scottish football won't be addressed by bringing in foreign referees alone.

The scum will do the same as they do with celebrities who arrive at the airport.
They will be there to meet the refs and try to convince them that they are great and give them a free top.

Celtic were calling for this back in the 60/70’s.
It’s a Catholic insecurity thing.
They just can’t bring in refs from other leagues, as they will have their own games to ref. They would need to be 100% available to the Scottish game. This is all designed to have current refs put us under more pressure.

Rangers should come out and back the Scottish referees.

Even although we have had poor decisions against us this season I don't think bringing a referee from Norway is going to do anything for the game.

No other country in the world has this issue about referees, the difference is, as we all know, the don't have a club that screams conspiracy every time they lose (or even draw) a game.

The question is who pays for them. It would be cheaper in the long run to install VAR technology. I would take either of them, the hammer throwers in this league wouldn't get away with the crap they do now. I include Broonaldo, in that as well.

Even Jhoe the Bhigot thinks the refs aer better now.........

From his latest crayon work:

I wonder if all the complaints about match officials is beginning to have an effect on decisions being made now. I would have to say there were not many decisions yesterday that Madden got wrong, in fact some would argue that Broonie got away with one with his yellow card, although the pundits on Sportscene seem to agree with that the yellow card was the correct decision.

Frankenstein’s monster!

I don't understand why Celtic would support this move. Refs who don't live in Scotland won't be subject to the pressure and coercion applied via the media to benefit Celtic.

Remember that Peter the liar is now a UEFA support member, he could well pull strings.

Revolutionary plans to draft in foreign referees to Scotland’s top flight for the start of next season are to be tabled on the back of a stormy secret summit between the SFAand the country’s furious top flight clubs.

Record Sport can reveal the governing body have agreed to consider a historic overhaul of their own disciplinary rule book after holding showdown talks with all 12 of the country’s Premiership clubs at Hampden on Monday.

And, at the end of what has been described as heated discussions, chief executive Ian Maxwell, compliance officer Clare Whyte and refs’ chief John Fleming, the clubs were given a mandate to draw up a dossier of demands they want rushed through and rubber-stamped before the start of the next campaign.

That is set to include a call to hire in officials from outwith Scotland’s borders - a motion which is being driven by champions Celtic but which is believed to be garnering support of others.

A working group made up of a number of top flight clubs will now be set-up with a view to urgently addressing the current standard of refereeing as well as the controversial judicial review process which has caused widespread unrest since Whyte’s appointment earlier this season.
It’s understood, while Whyte strongly stood her ground during Monday’s meeting, consensus was reached around the table to explore a raft of radical reforms to the current system.

Record Sport understands Celtic are keen to play a major role in drawing up these recommendations and that they are behind a proposal to recruit officials from other countries, including England, Wales and Ireland.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has already floated the idea when he publicly called for Scotland’s pool of elite whistlers to be supplemented by referees from outwith the country’s own borders - and club ambassador Tom Boyd went even further, sparking condemnation by calling for ‘neutral’ officials to be shipped in from abroad.

Boyd’s remarks brought back memories of the referees’ strike of November 2010 - a crisis which saw the SFA source replacement officials from Israel, Luxemburg and Malta.

While the SFA are unlikely to back such a proposal they are willing to listen to any ideas put forward by the clubs.
Rangers have also adopted a high profile approach to criticising the SFA’s disciplinary procedures and, in particular, of Whyte’s handling of her role as compliance officer.

On Monday Ibrox managing director Stewart Robertson launched a stinging salvo at Hampden’s sixth floor during an interview with the club’s inhouse media outlet during which he called for an urgent overhaul of the system.

Robertson claimed Rangers are being victimised by the authorities and insisted the process has been influenced by a long running row between the club and the BBC.

He added: “We are effectively re-refereeing games and that’s placing intolerable pressures on the referees, which then places pressure on the compliance officer and the disciplinary system.

“We feel we should be looking to go back to the way the situation was previously which is violent conduct and off the ball incidents that should be reviewed only.
“There’s no doubt, Clare came in at the start of the season and things have been dealt with differently this year. The incidents that have been reviewed this season wouldn’t have been reviewed last year, or some of those incidents.

“That is leading to confusion that there is much more inconsistency and it definitely feels that we are re-refereeing games. It also feels as though the incidents that are highlighted on the television at the weekend are the incidents which are being picked up by the compliance officer on a Monday, so I’ve heard this expression of trial by TV or trial by Sportscene and that certainly seems to be the way it is going.”
It’s understood the Premierships clubs plan a further round of discussions in the next 24 hours as they urgently seek to get their working group up and running

This is a smokescreen, nothing more.
The Filth have the entire scene in Scotland tied up, but nothing works better than upping the anti.
This has been their tactics for years.
Keep shouting out how they are the victims of establishment and institutional wrongdoing, whilst they are the establishment and they control the institutions.

The Roman Catholic Church wrote the book on this method of command and dominance.

They are playing the whole of Scotland for fools.
They use Rangers as a deflection strategy and all those other mugs in Scotland swallow the device like gullible marks.

It may a move led by Celtic but I can see it biting them on the arse. They don't realise how much they get away with now.

Having watched some of their European humpingsthe thing that stood out for me (apart from the obvious)was how little the refs gave tbem compared to our refs. So this will definitely bite them on the bum.

VAR is solution if they can operate it properly by impartial refs

It’s the VAR interpretation that worries me

The fact the scum don’t want VAR tells yo everything

Bringing in other refs may help but even foreign refs make mistakes

VAR would make %^*& all difference look at the pundits who still think clear red card offences are yellows after watching them back it will just send those type of media stories into overdrive

Liewell knows fine well that the other clubs have had enough of his cosy little arrangement with the CO and that there is a swell of clubs ganging together with the same voice to end it.

From a PR point of view he doesn't like the thought of other clubs pushing the agenda ... he wants to make it appear to be them.

As usual the Daily Rebel is right there to help him do that ... instead of acting like a proper media outlet and highlight how they actually benefit from the current arrangement

I think this is a PR own goal from Celtic. They have release all this bluster about foreign refs to perpetuate this myth of them being hard done by and to appease their batshit, no-self-awareness fans and someone is calling them out on this. Now, if they go back on it, then it is fairly obvious they were lying from the start.

Push them on this Rangers.

The only issue I have is that payment to refs would be easier to hide if they were given to foreign refs.
