Could Tav Go Supernova?

I owe the man a massive apology. I was always in the ‘I wank dugs’ club.

He’s proved to me that I know f*ck all and he’s now my favourite player.

Our Captain!

Hutton was a youngster with potential to go further. Tavernier is reaching his peak with us. Two different players with us at different stages of their career.

I remember watching Alan Hutton under Eck and his form was bubbling for a bit, it was great, but then all of a sudden he exploded into this realm of unplayable. He hit his stride and every game he went into he knew he was battering the opposition. It was insane

Tav was great against Celtic. But watching him last night is probably the best I've ever seen him play. He had the chest puffed out, he was battering into play, taking control of situations. He just looked utterly impeccable. Oh, then he stepped up and bashed a penalty away. Just so so good

The way he's looking just now, I get that feeling. He looks absolutely shit hot

"could he go supernova"!?!

What you watch in mate? This IS supernova!!! It's here, it's happening! This season he is having way more impact than even Hutton at his best (which don't get me wrong, I thought was the best right-backery I had seen before in blue at the time).

Tav brings home 55 this year? He has the goal/assist/cleansheet stats already this season in December that would qualify us to have said he had a legendary season for a defender.

I'm my mind, he is making his case for being in the greatest ever Rangers 11. 55 secures it for me. From championship to champions, he's played almost every minute, but this season he's leading in every sense of the word (in mentality, in energy, in stats).

Supernova Tavernier...
THIS is sup-ernier!
... TAVER-NOVA!
... There is something there, I'll keep working in it!

Tav is every bit as good as Hutton was at his peak. Maybe not the same powerhouse style, but he is equally effective. He is literally playing right back and centre forward at the same time ffs
Tavs better than Hutton, by a bit IMO.

The lack of a £9m bid might suggest otherwise.

I think anyone looking to buy him right now has the sense that £9m is wasting your time and breath.

Even before a new contract is signed, Gerrard wouldn't be letting his ever present captain, main attacking outlet, penalty taker, set-piece specialist and right side of best defence in the country (verging on continent statistically this year) go for a quarter of a Danny drinkwater!

Hands up, I've got stuck into him at times in the past when his form was not good enough, there was a stage he was costing us goals in big games and I was quick to blast him for that. I call it as I see it, without blue tints.

Likewise now I'll call it as I see it, he's been fucking brilliant and deserves all the praise in the world. An absolute joy to watch and leading us brilliantly. Easily our player of the year and has developed into a real leader, and nobody deserves to lift a trophy as much as him.

Both Tav and Morelos are two players who tend to polarise the support. That's no surprise really given that, on their day, they're our best players.

The issue I always had with the criticism that was levelled at Tav was that it was normally exaggerated nonsense. You only have to look at the Hibs 2-2 game a few months ago where he was (and probably still is) to blame for one of the goals by some of our supporters. Equally, we'd often hear that he was/is never a captain and had a weak mentality etc etc.

The guy just had a dip in confidence last season like the rest of them, but he has undeniably been our best player, consistently, for 5 years now which for a £200k right back is really quite incredible.
