I last done one of these threads almost four years ago and thought it was time to do another one on the back of winning 55 to show how far the club has come off the pitch with the additions of new staff at both Boardroom and Commercial level helping to move the club forward to where it actually should be after 9 years of hurt.
I'll do a list of positives and negatives and also in the hope the club are looking in and could maybe address some of the following issues that fans have raised concerns about on matchdays. Then also details about "Project 2022".
I'll start with the negatives first to get them out the way then move onto the positives.
Toilets: It's 2021 and these are our toilets. Are Rangers actually serious. If the club wouldn't mind spending a bit of money here please and get them up to the standards our fans should be expecting. Posters of the Rangers Soccer Schools featuring Chris Burke from 2007 still remain on the walls.
Concourses: Same again, it's 2021 and the concourses desperately need some money spent on renovating them. Contrast and compare with any other major club interiors across Europe. Rangers should always strive to have the best. As the fans have returned this season there should be the introduction of merchandise stalls and programme stalls in the concourses as well. Not everyone has time to spare outside the ground pre-match and much easier to buy when actually inside the stadium. There are also no food and drink kiosks anywhere in the Main Stand Front concourses. Those who have Season Tickets there will know they have to use those in the Main Stand Rear instead. Could Rangers find a possible solution for this?
TV's and Lighting: Still the same old TV's from the 90's in the Main Stand Rear that haven't actually worked in years and the same old lighting still being used by the club in the Main Stand Rear and both the East and West Enclosures as well as in the concourses there. There were new digital screens and new LED lighting installed in the Club Deck concourses recently, even something like that would do to replace the old and in with the new.
Whitewash: Hopefully the club can address this as soon as they can. The John Greig Statue and the names on the bricks below him are starting to turn white. Likewise with the badge mosaic at the main door reception. Perhaps need to get a specialist company to come in and repair both.
Mosaics: Noticed parts of the mosaics on both sides of the Main Stand have fallen off. It could be deemed a health and safety hazard if someone were to be taking photos below and anything fell off. Hopefully these can be fully restored and repainted.
Weeds and moss: A fairly quick and simple job to carry out. Take the weeds out and spray a weed killer on after so they can't return. Nothing worse than taking a picture of our magnificent Main Stand and there are weeds and moss below the big Rangers F.C. Mosaic.
Panels on sides of Broomloan and Copland Stands: Are the club any further forward with this? It just seems to have stalled and looks dreadful. Hopefully some sort of agreement can be resolved soon.
Broomloan Road Stand and Copland Road Stand Gates: The gates at the Broomloan end of the stadium have been moved three times in its history having been completed in 1928 and were previously the original gates at the Copland end! These gates were swapped during the construction of the Club Deck in 1991. You can tell the difference immediately between the touch of class and detail that has been put into the now Broomloan Gates in comparison to the cheap looking replica at the Copland end. Would be fantastic if Rangers could properly replicate the original gates in order to make the look of the stadium even finer. The two gates are very noticeably different. I would also remove the added panels at the sides of both gates as it takes the look off them. I don't see an issue with fans trying to get a wee look inside the famous stadium as long as security are being vigilant.
Some other problems that still need to be addressed by the club are:
Safe Standing (including moving the Union Bears into section CF3, making the full Copland Front Safe Standing and moving Away Fans from the current Govan West Corner and putting them in the UB's current section and previous Away Section BF1, where they would be out of sight on TV and the safest place in the stadium to manage them).
Limited Food and Drink selection by new Catering Partner Levy UK
Lack of or entirely no Scarves, Footballs, Pictures, general Rangers related products other than clothing etc in The Rangers Stores, not enough tops to deal with demand at the start of a new season, advertising peeling off in wash.
Rangers Online Ticket Website is a shambles in every sense of the word
Talk of a new Rangers Ticket Centre when the current one gets taken away. Must surely be moving into the new Edmiston House or an entirely new building to be created.
Talk of a new Ibrox Disaster Memorial after the previous company carrying this out took the club to court.
Always hear the new Ibrox Train Station discussion coming up every year to deal with the numbers on the subway, especially for European and Old Firm games. Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) hold the aces with this one as they decide if there is enough demand for it.
Well that's the end of the negatives, now onto the positives! I'm going to add in a list of positives to this thread thanks to the Board of Directors and Commercial team that made the following possible so bear with me and let me catch my breath after all that!
