Danilo Returns?

Hope whenever he comes back he gets back to his best ASAP, knee injuries give me the fear.
With good reason, few players can come back as good when out with a serious knee injury, all the worse when its someone who's game is based around movement and guile as Danilo's is.

When he went out I thought that was it for the season and I cant see it changing because even if he were able to restart some fitness work hes a country mile away from doing anything testing and beyond that hes not played Football for so long itll take a while to regain his sharpness.

Look at Hagi and how far off it he still seems even after coming back. Not an exact copy of the injury but the impact and subsequent R&R is not dissimilar.

Jamie Murphy's career was basically ended after his bad injury. He carried on but could hardly move and rarely completed 90s mins for any team he moved to.

Danilo had a bad one and has been out for a long, long time. Rangers would be better off keeping him on a slow road to recovery and looking at some specialist training/fitness work across the Summer to get him back for next season.

Id imagine it will just be a post by him or the team that runs his account to get hits and interactions. I would be buzzing if he was fit for parkhead though.

He wasn’t on the grass pre international games and was still doing gym work, so he can’t be back yet. It will be end of April before he’s fit again.

I still have high hopes for Danilo

A full pre season with us and raring to go he could be what we all hoped he would be when he signed.
I think he will be, think how much other players such as Yilmaz have shown their true abilities under a decent Manager, Danilo was better than most of those who have showed a huge marked improvement even in the very early days.

Danilo will be a star in this Rangers team.

Origibal diagnosis was 4 months
They got it wrong originally then.

Tom Lawrence got a similar knee injury and the initial talk was weeks out. When he eventually got the operation, it took a lot longer than 4 months to come back.

No chance.

He hasn't even started light running.

All strength and bike work.

Pre Season at the earliest for him to avoid any risk after such a serious injury.

I would settle for him building up his training this season and being able to do full pre season training in the summer.

Don’t think there is any chance he will be match fit this season

Is it unreasonable of me to expect players to keep this cryptic shite to a minimum unless their return is imminent? :D We’ve seen this from Cantwell, Sterling and Danilo recently and it’s just getting my hopes up!

Wouldn't be getting any hopes up. He's never going to be match fit before the end of the season.

Roofes our best hope for goals but yea, we know how that ends up.

I am not sure he's good enough to be the main man next season. We will be unlikely to be able to sell him in the summer after the injury though. I would be fine with him being bench option if we sell Dessers and get a replacement striker. However that's not good business if we paid around £4m for him.

We'd be a team marching on to the title with a bit more confidence if he was fit and performing at the level he did at Feyenoord.
I get fans are disappointed after we spent 6 million on him, but it's hardly the players fault Beale knocked the confidence out of him and then just as he was regaining it he got that terrible injury.

He has ability, let's just hope he recovers properly. At least with Clement in charge he should be managed accordingly.

It's been 4 months is that a long long time ? he'll be back playing when he's ready so I'm pretty sure the medical team wont rush him what makes you sure he won't be ready for the end of the season run in ? .

Agree.

Michael Mols is another example. As good as he still was, he never reached the same level he was at pre injury.

I’m expecting nothing this season and just hoping it doesn’t impact him as a player going forward.

He’s all about movement and speed over a short distance, explosiveness almost, and this type of knee injury can affect that long term.

Knee injuries are a killer as you don’t really know how they will heal

Be surprised if we were to get any more than a few cameo appearances from the bench this season at best. I think the focus will be on a full pre-season and getting him fully fit for next season.
I think this has to be the case, we've laid out a big transfer fee on him, not taking any risks as tempting as it may be to do so should be the priority, give him the time to heal and get a proper full uninterrupted pre season under his belt so he can start fresh next season.

I've written him off for this season, he will need some amount of time to get up to speed. Even at that he was missing sitters when fit previously as well. IMO we need better
