Dare we say reasonable..

With a full squad to choose from I reckon we'd have given them more to think about tonight.

That being said, without McGregor we'd have probably been on the end of a 3, 4 goal hammering.

Either way a result would have always been a momentous task.

Hopefully we have put those particular two 'performances' (in both arena's) to bed now that have lingered for too long.. & we've got it out our system.

& if we have then, despite the never ending injury plague we seem to constantly be under, we can start to build for the domestic campaign.

(Not least because if anyone thinks we are going to Napoli & getting anything then 1st order of call in the morning should be to social services) :))

On to Saturday we go.

Not for me, that was timid, passive nonsense. I agree with sitting in, but there was very little bite to what we did, no teammates working hard to make an angle for a pass or trying to anticipate things.
Liverpool had pretty much the night the would have wanted, loads of unpressurised possession, not much to defend against & an opponent that consistently gave up possession within 3 or 4 passes.

Full squad would've made no difference. Tactically we were wrong in our setup.

King and Davies didn't look comfortable. Borna was his usual shit, seems to think he can just look at attackers and he will win the ball instead of actually closing them down, McGregor loses his shit with him every game.

Davis, Lundstrum, some of their passing was so fucking poor and they looked lost. They didn't know when to push or stay.

Kent needs dropped

Tillman, I don't want to be too hard on him because he is a young guy and he was out of position but he needs to start upping his levels soon or he can go back in January.

Lawrence, Hagi, etc wouldve made no difference with that setup.

The players should be re-watching their own achievements in the EL last season and realise that they didn't get to the final playing like this.
Despite the current tactics there's too many mistakes.

I’m sorry but we are hardly missing any first team starters that would make huge difference. Gio would still have us set up same .

With a full squad, Hagi I think would be in there with a shout, Lawrence, Roofe can play on the right..

Options.
If we were to play our strongest xi (everyone fully fit)

Hellander, Roofe, Hagi and Lawrance. No team out side the elite would struggle without 4 of their potential starting xi

I think the OP is being overly generous.
Without McGregor it would have been a 7 or 8 goal hammering

Anyone with eyes could see that if we attacked as we do in the SPL, we would have been ripped to shreds. This year’s team lacks the guile of Aribo and the pace and power of Bassey, with replacements either injured or not up to speed yet. Yet fruitcakes on here expect us to be on a par with a team in the top 5 of European football.

A lot on here don’t seem to have any concept of how difficult Champions League level is and their drama queen histrionics are frankly absurd.

Good night.

Anyone sit there tonight and get pissed off that McLaughlin started the season ahead of Shagger? Still really annoys me.

If you’re playing a back five the first thing you need to be is compact. We were not compact.

Davis in a two man midfield at Anfield is unfathomable.

As good as Davo is he was given a lesson in football by Henderson tonight. Thiago was almost as good.

In tonights setup they would have made a difference?

Not for me im afraid. Gio is far too negative.
Mate I don't disagree on Gio's particar selections in games. At all.

Literally soon as I heard the team I know that Tillman is being played out of position.. so think we also had players on the bench that could have made a bit of a difference.

It's a different discussion really..

Why do Aberdeen get a 3 nil win for the postponement?
We're younsaying the same on Saturday about being negative?
Pittodrie and Tynecastle are two very different venues for us. Look at the results.

If you think we were going up to Aberdeen and winning you my friend are delusional.

I don’t get this love in with Hagi since his injury, he was rotten most games

He had some off games but to call him rotten is a bit unfair. He grab us by the scruff of the neck against Braga and gave us possibly one of our most memorable comebacks at Ibrox in a game we were getting battered in.

If he was fit tonight would you have played him out on the right instead of Tillman?

2-0 is a reasonable result. The performance was a million miles away from reasonable.

Shite team selection and tactics in a big game from Gio yet again. He is clueless

We could have gave them a game with the players available. Problem is you need three in midfield to be able to do that.

Calling out the managers negative tactics, decisions, team selections is chucking it?

I’ll be here long after he is gone
Sometimes the better team and players win. Sometimes it's not always the managers fault.
Sometimes the players that don't bother their arse to track back, make a simple pass, lack composure, gift possession to the opposition and are pushed off the ball too easily are at fault.

1) Agreed. But not always
2) He picked the negative tactics and personnel against a struggling Liverpool side
3) He picks they players
