He was to blame there was absolutely no reason for him to be that far out. That’s before getting onto Hendry trying to batter a ball through someone 40 yards out

Hendry was partially to blame. Just because Marshall is a clown doesn't excuse the fact that Hendry should be aware of what's behind him, by trying a shot which has zero chance of success, he setup a man on man counter attack behind him.
He created a superb opportunity for Czech Republic, all because he was pissing his pants with excitement that he had hit the bar a few minutes earlier.

Hendry made a total cunt of a no hope shot. He won’t be worth £10m now.

Absolute bollox - how any sane person can blame someone having a shot before it ends up in the back of the wrong net is mental. If he had given it to O'Donkey he would have been slated for that.
Marshall 100% at fault.

If patterson had been on he'd have been pushed further forward than O’Donnell for a far more simple pass and promising attack instead of blattering one from 40 yards

so that's it. doesn't matter what type of chance the shot it is, what's going on in the pitch around you, what your defensive duties are. If you've taken any kind of shot, you're completely absolved of any blame?

We had 3 centre-halfs to look after 1 striker. Why did none of the other 2 pick the striker up when Hendry went forward?

Even if Marshall was at the edge of his box, he could have run on to any ball over the top. He was far too far out. No excuses for that.

that's my point. regardless of marshall making a rip roaring James Hunt of it, Hendry had setup a great chance for the Czechs anyway, but making a terrible choice to shot when the shot clearly wasn't on, and he was out of position.

However, I do also wonder whether he avoided the obvious outball to o'donnell because of O'donnell's performance. he was ignored in passing a couple of times in the second half.

Doesn't matter if he made some good saves, after that 2nd goal it was over!
