Doncaster asking what it would take for 14 team SPFL!

According to BBC sport:

SPFL: Neil Doncaster asks clubs about 14-team top flight for five years

The SPFL has asked clubs if they would back a 14-team Scottish Premiership for next season and, if not, how might their objections be overcome.

In a letter to clubs in the top two tiers, chief executive Neil Doncaster queried if enlarging the Premiership for five years would be more palatable.

He also asked clubs what other factors should be taken into account around league reconstruction.

Responses have been requested by 17:00 BST on Friday.

Doncaster is also expected to ask similar questions of clubs in Leagues One and Two following their divisional meetings on Wednesday.

The letter comes after talks early this week over Hearts owner Ann Budge's reconstruction proposal.

Budge had suggested a change for two seasons to replace the current 12-10-10-10 configuration - one which would mean Hearts would avoid relegation.

It would also lead to Championship runners-up Inverness Caledonian Thistle being promoted.

It has since been clarified that Budge's focus is on a 14-team top tier, with the lower league clubs agreeing on whatever configuration suits them.

Hearts were condemned to the Scottish Championship in May after the top flight was curtailed.

Before that was confirmed, Budge co-chaired a reconstruction task force which was abandoned when several Premiership clubs intimated that they would not support a 14-team top flight.
Next he'll be punishing teams who don't agree

Here's a novel suggestion for them, go to the 14 team league, however rather than saving Hearts, give them the relegation they deserve and promote an extra team from the championship.

That way we'll see just how serious Budge is about it being reconstruction for the good of the game.

How the phuck do Hearts deserve relegation? There plenty of games for them to dig their way out it.

I would increase the league to 16 teams and if SKY and BT don’t know want involved, then great. They are killing our game.

Del Boy would be proud with the amount of shady deals that have went on these last few weeks.

I hope all the votes find their way to the SPFL inbox and not the spam.

If not we could be looking at a re-vote.

Threats and bribes should do the job.

They've worked on everything else so far.

There is no other league in the world in any sort of turmoil which the SPFL has gotten themselves in. It wouldn’t be tolerated anywhere else either, but here we are, plodding along from one disaster to the next all because there was a rush to proclaim the league done and Celtic champions.

The fact that these morons aren’t being called out shows it’s not just Scottish football thats in a terrible place, the guys reporting on it are just as incompetent and complicit. We should always be looking to improve, until there’s change in the game and a media without an agenda it’s always going to be the same old shite for Scottish football. Laughing stock and they wonder why.

The entire thing is a farce.
The SPFL are so incometent that they appoint Budge as the person to try and co-chair the exploratory group. Hmmm, I wonder why her ?

Surely its nothing to do with keeping Hearts sweet and trying to force them to stay in the league.

Also, nobody wants more teams in the Scottish topflight.
Making it 12 teams did nothing for Scottish football. We are still at the point of financial ruin, half the teams can't even pay for the upkeep of grass pitches and our national team hasn't exacly progressed.

I am all for restructuring the league.
Go back to 10 teams, get rid of the pathetic split and try and make our league look professional. That way you might find some sponsors.
By start of season 2021/22 Get rid of artificial pitches, if you have one you can forget being in the top league

I doubt anyone will come up with a better argument on this thread. Very well put.

It makes me wonder why UEFA/FIFA don’t have any official way to complain? (Don’t laugh!) A player, Club or manager can be charged with bringing the game into disrepute but there’s no way for a club to report mismanagement of their leagues organisation?

Is it paranoia or is the graphic above listed in alphabetical order bar one team just so Rangers can appear on the bottom row?

the BBC have a long long history of this. Amongst the hidden sectarian insults against our players and supporters in metadata of pictures, there are also many extraordinarily petty things. In the past, when Celtic have won the league, most leagues would be reset to alphabetical order fairly early in the close season but the SPL would be left with Celtic on top till the last possible moment. And, in lists of top scorers, Rangers players would always be placed lowest in the table (and Celtic players highest) when stats were equal, irrespective of alphabetical order or assists or any other discriminator.

It is genuinely pathetic.

Still doesn’t address the fundamental issue of the “Bt sport liability” or the fact they are asking a number of clubs to forfeit an “old firm fame” and lose associated revenue so needs to be a mega sweetener to get this through

This prick asking what the clubs want , like thats gonna happen !
He really boils ma piss , what we really want is for you to f*ck off out of Scotland , ya specky bulldozer heided twatwaffle !

If Rangers were not to be prepared to provide feedback by 5pm on Friday, Do you think Neil would be phoning Donald, to ask his opinion ?

The cabal will try and do anything to prevent the Legal route.
A total clusterfuck of an organisation.

How the phuck do Hearts deserve relegation? There plenty of games for them to dig their way out it.
If they're awarding titles, and let's be clear here - Hearts are quite happy for timmy to be declared champions - based on league position at time of calling the season or average points or whatever method suits their argument this week, then there has to be consistency at the bottom of the table too. That means that based on league position at time of calling, or points per game or whatever that Hearts deserve to go down.

They cannot be accepting of that lot being awarded a title they didn't win, and not accept that the same process means they go down.

The scum don't want it - nobody in the top division really wants it. What they do want is that any dodgy dealings by their placemen stays hidden and doesn't have a chance of being exposed in any legal proceedings.

Oh and another chance to make us look even more detached from the rest of Scottish football.

As I said if the scum don't want it then it won't happen. Amazed you can't see what Scottish football is.

i have to echo your negative thoughts. We have no chance of winning the league with those in charge, just this season they openly laughed at us by awarding Clancy further mentally challenged games after his blatant cheating.

As a competitive sport football is finished for the time being here.
Again nothing will be allowed to get in the way of their factious 10.

It's obvious what it would take........14 teams. Why is he sending letters to the SPL and Championship. Why not just ask Liewell the lord of the flies.

they will save hearts no matter what it takes

the only team being fucked over through all of this is us
Which is why it makes it incredible that we have not been seen to be taking legal action all the more puzzling.

Rejected today by Morton

Dave MacKinnon, who confirmed plans for streaming of Championship games played behind closed doors, rejected the idea of a two-year temporary change to the league structure.

As part of the proposals from Hearts chair Ann Budge, it was suggested moving to a 14-14-14 structure for two seasons but the Morton chief said it is “never going to happen”.
"It does nothing for budgetary forecasting," he said. "The notion of having it short term is just a no go area."

Aberdeen have already rejected a 5 year stint of 14 teams in the Premier.

It's looking increasingly likely that Hearts will remain a Championship club.

Good

Good. They might actually do something about it now, although highly unlikely.

It would take a bit of corrupt dealings with your masters at saville row and a wee bribe from hearts and a bit of help from shitebag clubs in liewells pocket to seal it. As long as it suits celtic it will be done.
As you very well know and have been told.

How the **** can they expect clubs to vote for something when they don’t give details of how it is going to work? I mean important details like the number of games, will it have a split, if so when and how?

“..er...how do you fancy signing a legally binding document that could influence the future of your club? ...eh, and don’t worry about the details... we’ll tell you after you sign it....“

Only a complete fool would vote for that

The sheer and utter incompetence of this clown beggars belief. If Liewell thinks he’s doing a bang up job then he’s either easily pleased or has a vested interest in him staying
