Football and Covid

With hospital admissions now past the peak in April , talks of tier 5 (basically a March lockdown) , Covid cases in Man City and arsenal. How far away is football being stopped. It probably is only a matter of time now. Elite sport will stop being exempt and it will be back to March level of lockdown. What happens then with the league is anyone’s guess. We all know we can’t trust the people in charge

It’s a very fluid situation that has got dramatically worse in the last few days going by the accounts of front line staff and the numbers. Throw in the Covid cases down south in the EPL and it’s quite worthy of discussion

Stopping football isn't going to relieve pressure on hospitals
Your right it won’t but there’s many people in this country that don’t like football including our first minister. They will be looking at all the restrictions and thinking what makes them so special . Everything else is stopped. It’s prob similar to the complaints of teachers that making them go to work risks there health and their families health . Footballers or prob their wives will not be happy at them risking health if someone in the squad gets it just cos it’s football

They’re regular tested and in a bubble.

I’m gonna look on a rugby forum and see if they’re all obsessed with that being stopped

Also everything else isn’t stopped

Surely with the vaccines coming out professional clubs can pay for them??
Nope . The vaccine isn’t getting made available to the private sector . You simply have to wait your turn on the nhs. Footballers being young and healthy will be at the bottom and would be lucky to get it this season

As I'm pretty sure I said before there is absolutely zero reasons for stopping football. They get tested all the time.

Internationals and European competition should be put on hold until this is under control. It's madness allowing this to happen in the current climate.

Can't imagine pro footballers are aggrieved that they're being 'made' to play.

Never know with the SNP mob but doubt it will be stopped/paused.

Get passed the of game and im sure under sporting integrity etc we could argue that everyone has played home and away. Apart from the scum of course. Make them play their outstanding games over a week and we will have final placings.
No-one would surely vote against that...would they...??

It’s gotten worse purely as we weren’t testing as many in March as we are now.

Elite sport will continue

Sheffield United announce “a number of” positive cases.

1 positive case at Arsenal.

Ralph Hasenhuttl is also self isolating due to a positive case in his household.

The rest of the Man City squad and staff have been tested and results are due back within 24 hours.

It’s nothing like the teacher situation, their classes aren’t being treated as bubbles with regular testing.

With the SNP, anything is possible. To dismiss anything that they would be prepared to do is niave in the extreme.

And if we win on Saturday, you will see it getting ramped up to the max.

Fulham v Spurs in doubt

Telegraph reporting that the EPL may have a 2 week cooling off break

I’m not sure about football being stopped, but this will likely delay chances of fans returning anytime in the near future.

Mentioned on amazon prime live game tonight that a two week stoppage is being considered. FA Meeting in the last few hours

With regular testing available and carried out this is not going to affect top level football. A circuit break could be introduced to relive a high number of positive cases on any given week however we are not at that juncture in Scotland in the football testing I stress only.
