Gazza and John Greig in the tunnel after we win 8 in a row

Apart from helicopter sunday, and the Uefa cup semi final victory, this day was the best day supporting Rangers. I was in my late teens, absolutely buzzing watching gazza rip this mob to shreds, especially the second goal.
Wonderful day.

I’ve probably watched those highlights more than any other. Beautiful sunshine and the party atmosphere. Plus I hated Aberdeen more than the tramps at that point.

Really was. It was a tight title race and he finished it with the kind of performance you dreamt about doing as a kid. Also remember the rumours being rife about Vialli possibly signing in the summer. What a time to be alive
Had forgotten about Vialli tbf , there were so many rumours in those days , and some of them came true, perhaps never get the same level of player again but hopefully a return to the good times is not too far away.

My sons best ever day too mate. He was going crazy that day.

Wonderful day.

His first goal often gets forgotten about because of the second, then the penalty for the hat trick and the Championship, but it was quality too. Step over, past two Sheep players as if they aren’t there then lifting it over the sheep keeper (Watt?) into the net.

Oh, his first goal was a work of pure genius. The quick turn and twist and then the burst of pace, and the finish was as sublime as you’ll see, but you’ll only see that type of play from a proper genius. Gazza was a genius, regardless of his shortcomings in life, that man knew football, football was his friend and he loved that friend to death. An absolutely extraordinary talent who morphed into the best midfield playmaker in the world right when we had him as well as euro 96.
Even 9 in a row season, he was sublime at times. A joy to watch.

Absolutely loved those few years the most

going with mates home and away
Drinking at the concrete lounge at the bottom of the stairs leading up to the Copland road stand
Always bouncing pre match

Agreed. I was 19 then, I think. Watched the game in rangers pub with my dad and brothers. Place was mental. Had to escort dad out at the end as he tried to order a round for the whole bar, about 60 folk!! Usually a tight arse.
Drank all my cash then the atm ate my card as I couldn't mind my number, due to drink.
Just a great day with rangers, friends and family.
Can you imagine 55?

I was fortunate to be in the dressing room after the game. I played for the youth team that day against Hibs. After we played, the Glasgow based boys were taken back to Ibrox to watch the second half. Six of us were allowed to go into the dressing room to celebrate and get a hold of the trophy. I remember Ian Ferguson opening the small dressing room window to show the trophy off, only for a Policeman on a horse to slam it shut in his face. F)&&in shat his pants. What an experience!!

My first ‘first team’ game at Ibrox (old man took me to a few reserve OF games as a warm up!). Would have been 9 at the time so remember elements of it pretty well, main memory was that we sat in the very back row of the Broomloan, 2 seats closest to the Main stand so in the very top corner. Spent more time watching what was going on around us than the actual game. What a game to have as my first. Grew up thinking this sorta thing was the norm. After the last few years it reminds me how the pendulum constantly swings and we’ll back there again one day.

I didn't have a ticket for that game because I couldn't get away from work, the boss at the last minute let me go so I drove straight to Ibrox and got there about 15 minutes before ko, parked the car in Copland road and went looking for a ticket, paced the place asking folk "you got a spare ticket mate?" the clock was ticking and the crowds were diminishing, desperation set in, the roar as the teams came out was evident, panic had overwhelmed me, I was sweating like a pig and getting nowhere.
The game was in full flow when I realised the only people outside the stadium now were bears like me in the same boat looking for "a spare ticket mate?". It was a fruitless task and soon it donned on me I wasn't getting that golden ticket no siree!
As I troop back dejectedly to my car hearing the noise of the crowd inside gradually reduce in volume the further I moved away, I was a sad and tormented man.
I got a ticket alright, not the one I was looking for unfortunately...it was stuck on the windscreen.
I got to hear the commentary on the journey back home though and suddenly the day turned out to be one of the best days of my life.

I was stood outside and remember watching that from the other perspective!!

Drive through from Stirling uni at 4 in the morning the week before to join the queue for the public sale for tickets. Me and 3 English pals, 2 of their fathers were in the forces and had heard a lot about Rangers so those boys used to come through for matches whenever we could.

From memory a draw won the sheep the league? Gazza absolutely detroyed them. What a fucking day.

What I would give to go back and re-live just one of those seasons with Gazza and Laudrup in our team. At the time we thought those days would last forever.
That twitter account has posted some tremendous videos. It’s only been going for a couple of days and it has over 5,000 followers.

That clip is why he is my favourite Ranger.
Biggest name ever to come to Scotland, and he knew how to entertain the crowd. That day was unbelievable

LOVE IT

A great day and one of the great outros from STV The Winner Takes It All.
Whenever I hear that I always think of that day
