He was a great friend to Gazza and took him under his wing at the start of his career.Wonder if this may stop Gazza going to the jungle now

I remember him being very ill and not returning to football because of it. Sad news that he’s gone at such a young age!

RIP

Tragic 65 no age at all.seemed a genuinely nice man.
Remember him at Newcastle, got treated terribly by the board at the time.
RIP Mr Roeder

I was watching premier league years today and was actually thinking I wonder what he’s up to now. Sad news RIP

Sad to read. As an under 40 I remember him most for his stint as West Ham manager.

Really sad news.

A football man through and through. His passion for the game poured out of him.

Sad news. Seemed a good guy

Wasn't he treated like an animal by Ashley during his time at Newcastle?

Almost moved his family to Rome with him to be his minder. Changed his mind at the very last minute.
Sure he changed his mind after Gazza went out on the piss in Newcastle (still not fully recovered from the first knee injury), got knocked on his arse by some random and buckled his knee again.

Roeder heard about it and told Gazza to forget it, and cancelled all his plans to move to Rome with him.

I’m sure the club employed him for a while when Gazza signed for us to look after him.

sleep tight Glen
