Is 5 subs a game here to stay?

I really like 5 subs and 9 on the bench, it gives you a lot of options and makes it easier to Keep match sharpness up.

I doubt it stays though. It might still be here next season depending on the virus situation but I doubt it becomes a long term thing

I think smaller clubs will be against keeping it, especially in countries like ours where teams cant afford more subs of similar standard. It’ll be seen as another advantage for the big clubs.

I really like it even though we rarely take advantage of it!

It's good to have additional options on the bench.

Can still remember the 3 subs and teams having to make the decision to put a keeper on the bench. Worked great for us in the final v Aberdeen!

Slightly off topic

I feel smaller clubs are at a disadvantage if a keeper is sent off when the team brings on their sub goalie. We’re fortunate enough to have two decent keepers. I preferred it when an outfield player went in goal

I was against it at the start, but must admit I think it's benefitted us this season. Helps keep more players match sharp and just more involved on matchday, which probably helps keep them motivated in training too. Think it's contributed to us feeling comfortable that we have competition in all areas, with players getting game time they perhaps wouldn't normally.

I’m old enough to remember having no subs, but it is an advantage to the bigger clubs in Scotland to have 5.

Neec to have independent doctors for that to work properly
An independent doctor would never say a player who had just had a headknock would be able to continue if said player said something was wrong, even if the doc suspected he was at it.

Club Dr might want him to play on even if he’s not fit to

I find it a pretty big change to the game in all honesty. I've been a bit mystified about the reason for it

Player welfare was behind it once the game started again playing a number of games in a short period of time after the 3 month break

FIFA understood that this would still be an issue with a compact season for 2020/21 so until August 2021 it has been continued

It has been left to each national association or league to use it

Back to 3 for me,but the concussion idea is a good one and to that I would add a goalkeeper at any time due an injury forcing the starting goalkeeper off.I can't understand my idea of a goalkeeper has never been thought about as it is a specialised position.
