Jim McCafferty Dead

You never know.

He made a grovelling apology at one point and admitted what he'd done. Still scum however Torbett and co continue to pretend they did nothing.

Hope he's told all he was aware of.
Given McCafferty’s role at the club, one which gave him access to boys, then the Police should have made his relationship with the club, and others there, part of their questioning. Especially given he wasn’t the first to be accused and convicted. And it should also be getting asked of others currently. When you look at the scope of it all and the figures involved, it is deserving of its own inquiry. Unfortunately, this is Scotland, where sexual crimes of a sporting or religious nature are swept under the carpet, thanks to the influence of a certain religion.

There can’t have been a massive amount of people involved at the boys club between their inception and the mid 90s, yet a significant proportion were abusers. That isn’t bad luck or coincidence.

I was re reading the Jilly Beattie article D. He confessed to her on 6 December, 2016.

Shortly afterwards, she escorted him to the local police station in Belfast.

That video you've probably seen, that was her too, and it was taken that night.

We are not aware of any further discussions where he threw other names into the ring, however that may have happened confidentially.
Likewise G, I had a look through the transcript of her interview, and it was focused on the crimes itself. Sickening to read, as his main concern was still for himself, in that he seemed mainly concerned about getting a good nights sleep. Not before the bastard disclosed how much he enjoyed abusing the boys.

You would think between all of the abusers interviews under caution that certain questions would have been asked by Police Scotland, with answers that further dismantle the separate entity nonsense. You would think it would be of massive importance for any investigation to uncover how this was facilitated and allowed to happen by the club.

If police interview transcripts or audio visual records exist, then they could further cement Thompson’s case (not that it really needs it due to the overwhelming evidence uncovered by Spotlight), but I don’t know the legalities of acquiring these. It would just be the final nail in the coffin for their defence if there was evidence straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak.

It seemed very clear even by listening to the video from that night that he was indirectly admitting that he was part of a paedophile ring.

He suggested the others should do what he had done.

Why should the law not have followed up on that with him ?

Totally. The question is why hasn’t this been done, or disclosed if it has been?

For comparison, imagine a council run youth club had around a dozen abusers working at the same club over a 25 year period. And the police don’t try and reconcile that the abuser’s crimes were known to others. On top of that, they don’t even interview the council authorities (who have dismissed their responsibility) charged with overseeing the club.

In a different context, that is what appears to have happened here, and would be extremely poor practice.

In other words, the police would really have to go out of their way NOT to try and link anything, or even simply ask the pertinent questions.
