Jock Drummond - An early Rangers legend

One thing I am always fascinated by is the players we could define as "early legends" of our great club, players who we never got to see play in person, but tales of their exploits live on throughout the years.
One such player is the great John "Jock" Drummond. Jock was born 13th of April 1870, two years before our great club came to be, in a small town in Clackmannanshire, staying for a few years, before his family relocated to the Falkirk area.
in 1886, at just 16 years of age, he found himself at Falkirk (deployed usually as a full-back) where he would stay for 6 years, during his final year at the club in1892, he was capped by Scotland for the first time, against Ireland in Belfast, soon after making his international debut, he would sign for Rangers.
It was at Rangers that he, along with the great Nicol Smith, formed the first (but certainly not the last) great defensive partnership. He was a key and reliable member of the great Rangers team that won 4 consecutive Scottish league titles, along with other honours including 4 Scottish Cups, 7 Glasgow Cups, and also 4 Charity Cups.
As a player, he was known for his strength and aggression, but this was not all he was, he also possessed pace and would move swiftly between the field of play. One defining feature of Jock was that he was one of the last (if not the last) remaining players to play the game while wearing his cap/bunnet. His impressive performances at Rangers over the course of his 12-year stint ensured that he was one of the first names on the team sheet for his country, and was capped 14 times throughout his career.
He transferred back to his former club Falkirk in 1904, where he would retire, and take up a role as their director of Falkirk, he never did forget the club that he spent so much time representing, and was a popular attendee of the Rangers' Jubilee dinner in 1923.
Jock passed away on the 23rd of January 1935 in his childhood hometown of Falkirk, aged 65, he left behind his Wife Janet and their Daughter Catherine.
