John Robertson outing the ref

This guy is very refreshing to listen to.. So many good words to say about our young team but utterly berating the referee with some decisions and saying the ref done the same the other week against them at AYR. Shame the guy will get fined because in honesty he is probably speaking the truth although he does emit the decisions against us tonight

Happen to know the ref and his family. Would have been honest mistakes, guy couldn’t care for us or them.

edit: should add that given where he grew up, I’d be surprised if he gave Ayr anything lol

Incompetence.

Why the f**k can't we have professional referees?

The same reason we can't have multi-ball? Because it comes down to finances?

Surely to f**k we can get a team of 8 top-flight officials, pay them 30k a year each, and this sort of shite would be taken care of?

Make it a f*cking profession, instead of some hobby for weirdos who otherwise teach RE...

Full time might improve fitness but overall decision making won't change. A lot of our refs can't tell the difference between hard, fair, dangerous or diving. It's not easy, in fact almost impossible to have a good game nowadays. I'd love to have a read of the match thread if someone on here refereed a game.

Maybe the refs are already professionals ìn their day jobs earning far in excess of the salary you suggest

Good point but to send someone off, you need to be pretty sure. That was a really embarrassing decision.

maw should have 12/16 top flight refs on 35k a year

no religious schools allowed

football teams and social media must be scrutinised to ensure integrity.

it’s that simple

Some of our refs are making over 30K with their part time gig.

VAR is the only option. That's three shocking officiating performances in a row. It doesn't matter whether it's incompetence or bias, TV replays leave them nowhere to hide. We not only need its implementation, we need to make sure were involved in how its set up and not leave any loopholes. If nothing else it will minimize inTIMidation of referees by the scum in the east end. Whenever something goes our way, or against them, officials can point to VAR and say, "it was out of my hands'. This might take the fear of their lives being turned upside down by rabid vermin out of the equation. Money is a red herring. The broadcast equipment already exists, all you need is a room and a TV set.

p.s. do people seriously think we can have multiball because of finances? Surely the ball manufacturer supplies match balls free of charge? If not they surely would in return for a simple acknowledgement

Agree with you re making them professional. Without wanting to derail the thread here, the lack of Multi-Ball is absolutely astonishing. Might stop these teams taking 20-30s for every throw in and goal kick which absolutely infuriates me. Ref warned their goalie twice today. Ridiculous.

Looked more like the linesman who flagged for offside at the caley disallowed goal. Robbo spoke very well of our young team but will probably be fined or suspended for calling out the ref.

£30k a year is probably what these diddys make each from the SFA as a second job.

With reason he called out the decisions that went against his team. Missed out the bit where Toshney I think it was in trying to clear kicked our number 5 ( Breen was it ) on the forehead in the penalty box, no penalty and no card.

He was completely right as well.

Because I doubt they'd accept a wage cut....

Nice words from him and good to see him calling out the ref for poor decisions - needs to happen more often without the threat of the SFA coming down hard on people speaking out. It is possible to criticise a referee without being offensive etc. If the ref has done nothing wrong then they don't have anything to worry about. If the ref has done something wrong then they need picked up and put in their place about it. It one way to get better are your job. However, SFA refs don't want to get better at their job - they are quite happy being able to be the centre of attention when they want of %^*& over teams if they feel like it.

Which is exactly the problem.

It's a hobby for these fu*kers, when their gross incompetence accounts for the national sport - worth millions a year - being made a mockery of.

The point i'm making is that we should bring focus to the game. Make it a career and try to get the best people in it. Not fu*king teachers and council pen pushers, but people who will see a decent salary and want to make the best of it.

Robbo is a great guy, used to do bits of work on the floodlights at ICT's ground. He would often be about and he'd always chat away, offer you a coffee & biscuits

Yeah I think you would need to up salary from 30k, as people have stated most refs will be earning more than that in their day job.

What is the salary for an EPL referee?

We are never going to have full time professional referee's because this league will never have the money to fund it. We are never going to get VAR because a certain team just now are happy with the refs because most of the decisions are working in their favour and the league can't afford it. The league will never be able to afford it because the product being offered on the park is substandard and boring. We have too many teams in Scotland, too many leagues, too many games against the same team per season until any of that changes we can expect much of the same to come for many, many seasons.
