Juventus board, including Agnelli, to resign

Why is there a picture of Patrick Swayze in that article ?

Juventus Football Club had €223.3m of debt in June 2022, down from €375.8m, one year before. On the flip side, it has €70.3m in cash leading to net debt of about €153.0m

Juventus Football Club had liabilities of €379.5m due within 12 months and liabilities of €382.8m due beyond that. Offsetting these obligations, it had cash of €70.3m as well as receivables valued at €114.1m due within 12 months. So its liabilities outweigh the sum of its cash and (near-term) receivables by €577.9m.

This deficit is considerable relative to its market capitalization of €764.3m, so it does suggest shareholders should keep an eye on Juventus Football Club's use of debt. Should its lenders demand that it shore up the balance sheet, shareholders would likely face severe dilution. When analysing debt levels, the balance sheet is the obvious place to start. But it is future earnings, more than anything, that will determine Juventus Football Club's ability to maintain a healthy balance sheet going forward

Juventus have been worse off than us this season, injury wise, and thats saying something. They've basically got a starting 11 of superstars sitting in the treatment room.

If the whole board resigns, what happens. Like, if a few resigned the others could bring people in, but if they have all resigned who takes over?

Hope they give it to the Grandson of the family, the fans like him and he doesn't like Allegri.

Bit of a character to say the least he was being blackmailed by a trans prostitute a few years ago and almost died after overdosing. Now happily married to a ex female rally driver :)

He's like Ross Park in a way I guess.

Good grief.
Just the sort of madman that would rise to power in the days of the ancient Roman Empire.

Match fixing again?
Rumours of some dodgy accounting during COVID... I can't make too much sense of what folk are saying online just yet as seems a lot of hearsay. Very odd but the full board to quit so suddenly without good reason though.

A fairly huge story here; wonder how far it will go.
Prosecutor's investigation
The Turin prosecutor had notified the members of the Juventus Board of Directors and the managers of the company of the closure of the preliminary investigations of the investigation that wants to shed light on the issue of capital gains and salaries spread in 2020.

The crimes prefigured by the prosecution
The investigation had begun in the summer of 2021. According to the indictment, there are mainly two crimes: false corporate communications, i.e. false accounting , and false communications aimed at the market , since it is a listed company. So the accusation of obstacle to the supervisory authority, Consob, is looming .

Abnormal exchange of players
The evidentiary framework outlines an alteration of the budget as a consequence of an anomalous recourse to player exchanges (which, not generating financial flows, were carried out, again according to the indictment, with arbitrary values to meet budgetary needs). Operations therefore considered fictitious by the prosecution.

Salary shifting
Furthermore, again according to the indictment, a further intervention aimed at altering the budgetary results was identified in the shifting of salaries. There would be concrete elements to believe that the salaries to which the players have renounced correspond to one month's salary and not four (as communicated by Juventus in March 2020): the remaining monthly salaries would have been deferred. Following searches, private documents were found containing the club's unconditional commitment to return the agreed amount even in the event of the player's transfer, contrary to what resulted in the contracts filed with the League. Furthermore, some of the suspects were charged with the crime of "fraudulent declaration by the use of invoices for non-existent transactions ”.

Discrepancies for 207 million in the three-year period 2018-2020
In detail, according to the Turin prosecutor's office, these are the different values that - according to the consultant - should have been in the budget, if there hadn't been the interventions under examination:

2018 - loss for the year of almost 40 million instead of 85 and positive shareholders' equity (31.2 million) instead of negative (-13.3)
2019 - loss of 89.6 million instead of 239.2 and positive equity at 239.2 instead of 47.5
2020 - loss of 209.5 instead of 222 and positive equity at 28.8 instead of negative 175.7

All rather complicated it seems... Will be a interesting story to follow.

Tancredi Palmieri is a notorious anti-Juventus journalist and huge Inter fan. He is known for trying to troll fans of Juventus. I would take his tweets with a big pinch of salt.
Does this not speak for itself though, bearing in mind the extent of resignations?

Where is he, I can't see him in that pic.

Arthur/Pjanic deal? Think there was something dodgy there around amortisation.

Not really. It is quite a leap to go from Directors resigning to a club being relegated for match fixing.
The press don't seem to have an idea of what the story is here. Del Piero was talking about it on world cup coverage and basically said if it was a legal issue it would be against individual people, not a chance of the club being punished as there are no cases against the club.

Just as the team was beginning to get their act together on the pitch too.

I did wonder how an Italian club was able to afford Ronaldo a few years back. Don't normally associate them with the kind of budgets we see from the big 6 in England, PSG, Real et al

Hopefully not. Hopefully it's a sign that those who push for the (relative) monstrosity of a Super League have realized it isn't happening.
It will most definitely happen. Maybe take three or four years but it will happen. Money always wins though in the end. .

Follow a lot of Italian football and they have certainly fella of a cliff in recent seasons, no where near as dominant and poor to watch.

Think last year or the year before was their first without silverware in over a decade.

Chiellini left with a year left of his contract to join Los Angeles FC, Ronaldo left as well possibly the same season.

Chiesa is still struggling to get back to full match fitness after ACL surgery, Cuadrado I've never liked, always seems to be ball greedy and makes poor decisions, they are also a number of players in their late 20s/ early 30s with some vets in there that are going to need to get replaced like Bonucci.

That said with all their issues they are still 3rd in the league but 10 points off the top.

Italian expert on sky suggesting that they announced during covid that their players were taking big pay cuts but they still paid them off the books presumably not paying any of the tax

They are going to be absolutely screwed. Jail time for directors and huge sanctions
