La Liga is making a spectacular return for English TV viewers - with all games being shown for free in June.

Lionel Messi and Co are set to draw in massive audiences after Spanish top flight football was given the green light to return next month.

La Liga and its broadcast partner Premier Sports will announce this week that all live matches will be made available for Sky TV customers.

It follows the Bundesliga proving to be a big hit on BT Sport with football fans craving the return of live action after the coronavirus lockdown.

La Liga games are set to be shown every day of the week with late afternoon and evening kick-offs as well as night matches at weekends.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are currently locked in a title race while La Liga president Javier Tebas has confirmed the Seville derby between Sevilla and Real Betis will be the first game back from the week of June 8. The opening fixture could be on Thursday, June 11.

It means Spanish football is likely to be back on English TV screens before the Premier League which is also due to return next month.

Sky subscribers - or anyone with a Sky box - will be able to sign up for free during June with the subscription price normally £5.99. Non-Sky subscribers are also to be offered free games in June via the Premier Player app.

It is designed to be part of a TV bonanza for armchair viewers with the hope they will stick with the channel with 11 games left for each team.

La Liga has also announced that a new magazine show featuring former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino will be on air from June 1.

Talking Football series will be hosted by Guillem Balagué who will interview Pochettino and there will be more regular programming around the games.

So Premier Sports itself isn't free but Sky are footing the bill, I wonder if Virgin will follow suit.
Shame really because it's you are still playing a premium subscription to Sky, to get the channel. Would have been nice for the 'lesser' games to get aired on Freeview with FreeSports.

That was already happening and may still happen

When La Liga launched in the UK it was only Sky customers that got it free for 2 weeks

Virgin Media never did it and may not do it either next month

Good. I Ewing, spoiled for choice from week commencing 15th with EPL, Bundesliga and La Liga to choose from.

We’re in for a massive football fest,,, our game is doing the opposite and shutdown. Absolute fuckwits.

So the bigger leagues with bigger teams are starting back up yet ours was prematurely ended , funny that

Part of the contract premier sports have with La Liga allows for one game per week to be shown on Freesports. I assume this will continue. Free Sports will also be showing Liga Nos, Polish and Danish football

UEFA will probably start euro qualifying near end if these leagues so they are all match fit whereas in Scotland we'll probably be hearing about Hearts 10th attempt at reconstruction...
