Lennon on Duffy

Watching his press conference today, and listening to the radio coverage.

We are one more poor performance away from Lennon inferring the criticism of Duffy is about his nationality or religion. He got very very close to snidely suggesting it was being driven for non football reasons today.

It is an old Lennon tactic, he knows there is a willing gallery to preach to, and it it reflects from him as per usual.
 
The criticism has been more than fair.

I was listening to GO radio last night with Si Ferry and Barry, they made 2 good points.

Duffy is a decent 18 yard box defender when you're playing for a team who sit deep, but when expected to play on the half way line, a ball over the top and his movement are limited.

Second, the have little strength in depth. They were going on about losing Christie and Eduoard, but then Barry rightly said Rangers have had jack, aribo, roofe, Barrasic, bolagun all out and if it's made no difference, and also the Morelos has been no where near top form...

Just hope this is not another false dawn
 
But I think the OP is correct about them going nuclear with the sectarian card, they are now feeling pressure for the first time in a decade they will throw everything at it.
Light a candle for Duffy.
I will to hope they keep playing him each week.
 
There's no question that'll be the next line of defence even though it's his own support leading the charge with the pitchforks for Duffy.

The most galling thing is I have absolutely zero doubts that the Scottish footballing press would run with it and blame us.

Another thing, he's all supportive of him now but he won't hesistate to chuck him under the bus to save his own weasly skin.

Good post mate.
The only sounds coming from us is laughter it's their own that are now bitter about Duffy.
But they will change this around to paint us as driving him out due to his background and they have useful idiots in the press that will comply.

Every single person that’s critical of him or his team over the past two weeks he’s bit

Commons , Charlie Nic , Mo Ross he’s mentioned them all in press conferences immediately after they’ve been critical

Stevie G would have a full time job if he reacted in that way at press conferences with Sutton and that arsehole Stewart alone

The mask is slipping the pressure is clearly getting to him

It absolutely is. They seem to hate him already.

The criticism of Duffy is valid. They have conceded 8 goals in 3 games and he has been at fault for at least 6 of them.

Before that he has been in trouble defensively in nearly every game. He has no pace and is terrible on the ball. His inclusion disrupts celtics game as they need to play a 3-5-2 or a deep back 4 to accommodate his lack of pace, or leave themself exposed.

Its glorious.

Interestingly many have picked up that TLB was the one who raised Duffy during the interview as a response to a question about him.
They feel this is more of TLB again chucking a player under the bus.

there is no fans at games the only criticism is from his own online fans and his own people

Good means he’ll keep playing him . Funny though his biggest critics have been the self proclaimed bestest fans in the world . We all know they’re scum but would be a stretch to call them anti Irish .

He'd be decent for Aberdeen.
 
Duffy hasn’t played in a team that are expected to dominate possession in a game and play on the front foot. He is used to and has built a career out of playing for teams that defend deep

They signed the wrong player for the wrong reasons.
 
The criticism is coming from Celtic fans and ex-Celtic players. Added to that the media are having a go. Rangers fans are having a giggle at him and nothing more.

Would need to go some to turn that into anti-Irish anything. However, I am sure he'll give it a go.

However, with it being Lennon. He's more likely to just chuck Duffy under the bus when he gets a chance.

I'm not sure the press will back him this time.

They would, undoubtedly, do so under normal circumstances however this time he has had a go at the media claiming they are the ones driving all the negativity and wanting him sacked.

The media in turn have generally come out and defended themselves by claiming "it's no us, it's your own fans and ex sellik players" that are responsible.

The media, having already blamed their fans and ex players, would have to make a major u-turn for them to buy into any subsequent attempt by TLB to suggest it was actually someone else stirring the pot or that there was any reason other than footballing ones.

Not saying they wouldn't though.
