Looks like Helander could be out for a while

Steven Gerrard has revealed that initial scans taken in the aftermath of the Hampden showpiece have delivered bad news.
Gerrard said: “Specialist are looking at Filip’s scans and he certainly won’t be available in the short term.
"The initial reports aren’t fantastic but we should know more after the game.

What was the cause did he simply roll over on it ?
Idk if it ever got confirmed or not but someone suggested it was to do with a sprinkler on the ground. Was a weird one because it didn't look like much happened when he had to come off but something clearly happened with his foot or knee

And we’re now about to find out exactly why it was so important to have 4 quality CH at the club we have just been fortunate so far no one has been injured
Exactly this. An injury to one of our starting centre halves causes me considerably less anxiety than any other position on the field.

Hopefully he won’t be unavailable for long, but big Niko now has the chance to make that slot his own

100%, especially as Edmundson didn’t train either yesterday through illness.

Someone mentioning in the YBs thread that Edmundson is struggling at the moment as well. Would it be the lad Mayo on the bench then?

Big Katic has to seize has chance now and make it impossible for the manager to drop him. These are the moments that define the great players. He's waited a long time for this so hopefully he will come in and do the business for us and make the position his own.

Edmundson imo will be the best CB we have ,he can defend ,he is quick and his range of passing is ridiculous

step forward King George

Fair enough, Edmundson hasn’t had a lot of games. But you can only judge on what you see and when GE has had a game he’s generally impressed. I’d not be panicking if he had to be deployed.

Don’t forget that Helander has not been without criticism for some aspects of his game and there have been numerous threads telling us Goodson needs chased.

This is an area where we are quite strong. I’d be a lot more worried if a striker got a medium to long term injury.

Worst blow tonight for me is missing Davis.

I’ll be honest - I think hellander has had too much game time and a serious injury to one of our (approx) 8 regular starters was inevitable. Katic could have much more game time recently and not weakened us and reduced the risk of something like this happen

I thought edourd stood on the top of his foot and caused the injury, we should have been rotating the other CB more often to keep them match sharp.

His injury isn't due to being overplayed.

Someone stamped on his foot and broke a bone. That can happen after 5 minutes of your debut.

Oir improved results have been down to having him in the team as he's our best CH.

Hope he makes the game on the 29th but that may be ambitious if it's a fractured bone
