Think folk underestimate the impact of Messi already and he’s not even retired.
Messi by Bellingham’s age had won the Champions League, two league titles, three domestic cups, over 100 games for one of the best teams in the world, replaced one of the most entertaining players of all time, and scored and created more goals. The performance the season after would win him the Ballon d’Or, the first of 8.
There won’t be a player in Messi’s category again. The consistency Bellingham would need across his career to match him and Ronaldo in numbers is unbelievable, and he’s already got a bit of catching up to do.
Wonderful young man and super player with the world at his feet. I hope he stays away from the EPL so the scrutiny and celebrity hype never surrounds him. Real is is good as it gets in fairness.
As for the Messi comparisons, it’ll be another 30 to 40 years before we see the likes of him again. Enjoy the lad instead of measuring him against the greatest to play the game.
