Both have came under criticism recently but McLaughlin save on 73 minutes was class and Sands composure on the ball allowed us to break through the lines many times. Along with the other 9 players both showed their quality in getting the clean sheet and the job done! ️

Agreed. Sands was an absolute warrior tonight. Seemed like a magnet to the ball any time a psv player had it and he stuck his head in where it hurt.

A couple of times Sands was caught shipping possesion but other than that he was fantastic. Really made that position his own, IMO.

Long way to go yet , but he’ll get his chance as our £4m can’t stay fit.

McLaughlin is my player of the season at this early stage. The saves against Union Saint-Gillion & PSV were absolutely crucial.

Trying not to be negative on a night like this but it pissed me off in the studio afterwards when Miller and Hutton were saying we need to get a new centre back to partner Goldson.

Sands has been our best defender in the last few games.

Absolutely love his aggression and when he hits a pass forward it's with purpose, usually fired into feet. Had a couple of wobbly moments that put us under pressure but he was superb tonight.
