1953 - Queen of the South 3 Rangers 1 (Thornton) - Friendly (8,000)
This was a benefit match for Charlie Johnston and attracted a crowd of 8000 to Palmerston Park, although Rangers' side was effectively a reserve team.

1988 - Rangers 6 (McCoist, Gough, Walters, Wilkins, Drinkell, Durrant) Clydebank 0 - League Cup 3rd Round (34,376)
1990 - Terry Hurlock signed from Millwall. The Londoner had been a cult figure with the Lions and previous club Brentford, earning similar status at Ibrox. Graeme Souness recruited the midfield enforcer, who went on to win a B cap with England as well as winning a Premier Division title and League Cup winners medal in his sole campaign as a Gers player. Hurlock also collected a pile of red and yellow cards due to his robust style of play.
1991 - Rangers 4 (Huistra, Johnston, Spencer, McCoist) Dunfermline Athletic 0 - Scottish Premier Division (35,599)
1994 - Rangers 0 AEK Athens 1 - European Champions' Cup Qualifying Round 2nd Leg (44,789)
Chasing a two goal deficit from the first leg meant Rangers were committed to attack right from the start, with Mark Hateley and Duncan Ferguson spearheading the strike force. Despite a succession of high balls in the Greek penalty area, any one of which Hateley or Ferguson might on another day have converted. Rangers failed to score and with AEK scoring a breakaway just before half-time, lost the tie
1996 - Rangers 1 (Gascoigne) Dundee United 0 - Scottish Premier Division (48,285)
2005 - Rangers 2 (Buffel, Prso) Anorthosis Famagusta 0 - European Champions' League Qualifying Round 2nd Leg (48,500)

2005 - Rangers 2 (Buffel, Prso) Anorthosis Famagusta 0 - European Champions' League Qualifying Round 2nd Leg (48,500)

Prso was sensational that night. He ran himself into the ground that season, lifting a very poor team onto his shoulders along with Ferguson at times.

85 - A great win v a Hearts team that go on to lose the league on GD, we secure 5th spot on the last day.
I'm sure Ally was sent off that day, there was a big fight in the centre circle. Maybe along with Walter Kidd?

We started that season well, I remember thinking Hugh Burns was going to be a great wee player for us. But things fell apart totally, I dread to think where we would have finished in the league without McCoist as he must have scored nearly half our goals.

Least said about 1994 the better.

Possibly the worst tactical game Walter ever presided over.
It was an awful week with three home defeats in a row which hadn't happened for decades prior to that. The Rangers Historian had a good article on the last time that had happened in an edition titled Nightmare on Edmiston Drive.
