1931 - Rangers 1 (Fleming) Dundee 2 - Scottish Cup 2nd Round (17,000)
After an easy win in the first round against Armadale, Rangers went down 2-1 at home to Dundee in a match that many believed should never have been played. Constant rain throughout the day turned the Ibrox pitch into something akin to a lake. The ball invariably got stuck, requiring a number of kicks to remove it so play could resume, but the referee ignored all protests and insisted the match should be played. That said, the conditions were the same for both sides, and it was Dundee who emerged wet but triumphant

This was the first goal Rangers had conceded in 12 matches, a record for the club, but Adrian Sprott's single strike ended Rangers' hopes of lifting the treble in Graeme Souness's first season in charge

1998 was another key defeat in the league that year - Rangers just could not get a winning run together and this was the first defeat in umpteen years up there.

87 - A miserable performance, Souness didn't have a great record in the FA cup and it was the same with the Scottish cup.

The day that Souness decided Davie McPherson wouldn't play for Rangers much longer.
Walter obviously disagreed.

A massive statement sent out by Rangers, who crushed Table topping East Fife by four goals to nil.
A rare double from Right Half Ian McColl, in the opening 45 mins, which was as many goals as he had scored in any other season, of his 15 seasons at the club.
A special player, 575 appearances, who's team mates stretched over 40 years of Rangers history,
from Dougie Gray (1925), to Jimmy Millar and Davy Wilson (1967)

Rangers who had gone two seasons without a Trophy, would go on to collect the Double,
in Bill Struth's penultimate season, winning the League on Goal Average from Hibernian,
and collecting the Scottish Cup, defeating Dundee, Celtic, Hearts and Aberdeen along the way.
20 year old Derek Grierson, an Inside Right who we had signed from Queens Park back in August, would end the season as Top Scorer with 33 Goals in 46 Games.

As a footnote, Celtic who as recently as Christmas, sat 2nd in the table just 1 point behind League leaders East Fife, at the halfway stage of the season, had since lost 5 League games on the trot, and now sat just 6 points above bottom club Raith Rovers.
Have they ever had a worse January? B-D
