Rangers had been due to play the second leg at the beginning of the month but heavy rain forced a postponement. The weather was little better when the two sides did get to play, turning the pitch into a quagmire and making Rangers' passing more difficult,to say the very least.Although they took the lead (a penalty converted by Johnny Hubbard),they were soon pegged back on aggregate. One player from each side was sent off in the closing minutes and the police had to escort the referee off the field. The result meant a third match ,penalty shoot-out's not yet being introduced.

1996 - a great night and fantastic game for us and the neutral. A fantastic goal by Laudrup, chances aplenty, Van Vossen with that miss, 2 penalty saves, a fox appearing in the second half.

The game was played on a Thursday night for some reason

What a game - was that the one with the fox on the pitch ?

(EDIT - seen posts above which answers this question - apologies)

van Vossen every time I watch this back I think he is going to score.

The Goalie - nothing was going past him that night

I could go on and on

1970 - Rangers 5 (Stein 2,W.Johnston Pen,D.Johnstone,Mulhearn OG) Clyde 0 - Scottish League Division One (25,915))

A fixture around that time that never seemed to finish with 22 men on the park.
Rangers scored three goals in 5 mins (Willie Johnston (pen), Colin Stein and Derek Johnstone) during the last 10 mins, after Clyde had their keeper sent off for kicking Alex MacDonald, then kicking the ball away in disgust at the award of a penalty.

Three days earlier Rangers had Five players appearing for Scotland in a 1-0 win v Denmark,
Greig, McKinnon, Stein, Johnston, and Sandy Jardine winning his first cap.
