Once again we failed to compete in the middle of the park they showed more desire and application we were our usual petrified on the big occasion when winning was paramount
Lost count how many times they just ran off us today.
How many times did any of our players actually sprint at full pelt?
How many tackles did we actually put in today?
The chance were Kyogo missed from about 6 yards they had the ball for about 2 minutes and not one player even put a tackle in.
We did that thing of sorting of closing down but having no intention at all of actually winning the ball.
Absolutely inexcusable in such a big game.
The complete opposite today again.C’mon man remember Gerrards first training clip video ‘we won’t jog over slowly to close a man down, we play now to win the ball and we close down with intent’
Obviously ive paraphrased but that was the message and it was aimed firmly at a group of guys who were just trying to get by doing the bare minimum.
It was so clear that they wanted it more than us today and we accepted that.Yet again they wanted it more. Hungrier and outfought us and they are not that good. Just good enough to beat our group of comfortable players.
They take shots all game long, we don’t. Shots cause carnage and uncertainty in a defence. You get breaks from them too. We don’t do that.
We need players who want to win, we have well payed comfortable players, no leaders.
Clement has to build his own team. Fit, strong, hungry winners.
Said it earlier. They were beat before they even left Ibrox this morning, they knew, deep down we knew it.
This is what this squad does. This upcoming rebuild is arguably bigger than Gerrards first.
Think about our teams that went there and were under so much pressure, yet won.It was so clear that they wanted it more than us today and we accepted that.
How anyone can say it's quality that's the main issue I don't know. You need to battle regardless of how good you are and we never do it against them.
Dessers should be absolutely burst after all the running he did today. There's a real contrast in the energy, effort and desire of their midfield and forwards vs ours.
Dessers is a spectator even when the ball is in his vicinity, whilst Lawrence and Lundstram have no legs at all.
He also missed an absolute sitter because he shat it.I thought Silva done OK today and done a fair amount of defensive work but when he's back he falls asleep and the opposition players just walk/run off him leaving a massive amount of space. That's how they got the 1st goal but it happened repeatedly throughout the game.
Seems to be the same instruction as the previous games, hold them for 70 mins then press them. Pointless.Noticed a couple of our players ambling back when they were attacking Laurence and Silva to name but two.
Thought the tackling was OK but agree that we seemed reluctant to close them down quickly but I assume this was some sort of tactical instruction.
Hard to give proper assessment due to Lundstram's sending off but overall was very disappointing performance.
Apart from Sterling we lack physicality, energy and pace all over the park.Shows up in the big games e.g against Benfica and again today was a glaring example against a mobile but shit team..It is a cultural thing within our current squad. Movement on and off the ball is shit. We have a lot of players that are not athletic enough. We need good players brought in this summer but there needs to be pace and physical presence
I didn't say we closed them down enough. But we dud win the ball back plenty, particularly and surprisingly in the 2nd half.We closed them down so much they had 11 shots before the red card and 7 were from the edge of the box.
They walked through us again today.
Which players gave everything and played well that first half with 11 men? None of them.
Aye mate, the whole Ridvan thing is a bit of a joke, he's either fit to start, or not, he looked absolutely fine when he came on.And we have to stick to. If they're fit to come on and play, they're for enough to start.
All of the managers we've had seem to have the fear of putting a player in like Yilmaz for instance who is bang on 100 percent fit.
This also.He also missed an absolute sitter because he shat it.
Good connection and it's a goal but he shuts his eyes and fluffed it.
Clement is too cautious with players imo and gives too much info to opposition in terms of players fitness. He constantly comes put and says players will be in the squad but not ready for the full 90 mins etc. If i am the opposition hearing that, i'm gunning for them knowing they arent 100%. Tbh im just scunnered with the lot of them. Apart from sterling and butland the rest can go. Unfortunately we will probably need to sell butland and sterling to find a complete rebuild.Aye mate, the whole Ridvan thing is a bit of a joke, he's either fit to start, or not, he looked absolutely fine when he came on.
Pandering to the players will only see you getting sacked.
Never a captain.Where was the 'captain' stepping up and 'setting the standards'?
Maybe being harsh considering the second half with 10 men but that first half they just jogged about and shuffled about the pitch. There was no intensity in our play apart from the goal and we didn't engage them until they played it into our box.Lack of effort being confused with lack of pace.
There was plenty effort today.
Romantic pish.It was so clear that they wanted it more than us today and we accepted that.

Exactly. Folk who have probably never kicked a ball come away with this pish all the time.Lack of effort being confused with lack of pace.
There was plenty effort today.
Yaaaawwwwwnnnnn!!!!Never a captain.
The bheast players always seems to want it more than our players. It's unforgivable. I lost count of the number of times we lost 50/50s and players in blue could be seen jogging slowly back to defend. From today only Butland and Sterling from the starting 11 can look themselves in the mirror. It's unacceptable and must end. Get rid of the usual suspects now.Lost count how many times they just ran off us today.

Ok mate.Romantic pish.
Their players/team are better than us at the moment. Running about really fast and diving into challenges plays into the opposition hands, but aye as long as we do that then all is acceptable...
Why forget about quality? That's what matters in the main.Ok mate.
Forget about quality for a minute...did we match them for passion, desire, effort or intensity today?
Imo they didn't and that's not acceptable regardless of how much ability you have.
Not having that about Silva. Thoughts that was his best game for us.Noticed a couple of our players ambling back when they were attacking, Laurence and Silva to name but two.
Thought the tackling was OK but agree that we seemed reluctant to close them down quickly but I assume this was some sort of tactical instruction.

It's a good effort from you hereWhy forget about quality? That's what matters in the main.
We lack the overall quality to beat them, so say results. But yeah, charge about and that'll show them....
They weren't charging about. They didn't need to, as they have the quality to keep possession, use it and hurt us.It's a good effort from you here
"Charging about" as you call it clearly worked for them today as they over ran us.
Maybe being harsh considering the second half with 10 men but that first half they just jogged about and shuffled about the pitch. There was no intensity in our play apart from the goal and we didn't engage them until they played it into our box.
They played with an intensity and a purpose. They weren't charging about. They didn't need to, as they have the quality to keep possession, use it and hurt us.
