TROUBLE AHEAD?
Rangers v Spartak Moscow – Glasgow cops put 300 officers on red alert as they brace themselves for visit of notorious Russian ultras for Europa League clash

1000 Russian fans are set to descend on Glasgow - the first time they've travelled since the death of a policeman in Spain

GLASGOW cops will put up to 300 cops on red alert as they brace themselves for the visit of Russian ultras at Ibrox on Thursday.

Police Scotland are preparing for 1000 Spartak Moscow fans to descend on Glasgow for the Europa League clash with Rangers – the first time they’ve travelled since the death of a policeman.
The club’s notorious ultras were banned from travelling for two matches by UEFA following the tragedy during violence in Bilbao earlier this year.

We saw violent scenes back in August when Croatians NK Osijek visited Ibrox and two were stabbed – and officers are keen to avoid a repeat.
A source told the Daily Record: ““They have categorised this the highest risk game to be played at Ibrox so far this season. Usually, around 100 public order officers are on standby for UEFA matches.

“This time, they’re taking no chances, especially after Osijek, and between 250-300 are expected to be on duty, in additon to the usual numbers in and around the ground.”

The Russians will start to arrive today and it is believed they will be joined by cops from their own country, who will work with the police here to identify trouble.

Spartak fans have in recent times been slapped with a number of fines and sanctions from UEFA.
Last year a firework was thrown at Turkish referee Deniz Aytekin in a Champions League tie against Slovenian’s Maribor.

They were banned from taking travelling supporters to their next away match in Seville and fined £55,000.

Their own stadium was partially closed as punishment for racist abuse dished out to a young player managed by current Rangers gaffer Steven Gerrard.

Bobby Adekanye, 18, was on the receiving end as Liverpool under-19s played in a UEFA Youth League game at the Spartak Academy

Things came to a head in February when Spanish policeman Arias Garcia died after suffering a heart attack after taking a blow to the face during street battles.

Spartak fans were locked out of the next two European matches and the club were fined £50,000.

The Moscow club earlier complained to UEFA when Rangers decided to offer less then the regulation five per cent of the stadium’s capacity.

But UEFA allowed the Ibrox club to sell only 1001 tickets to the Russians, rather than the 2500 they were after.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “The match has been risk assessed and will be policed appropriately

I’ll be astonished if there is not a lot of trouble at this tomorrow night. Spartak fans are lunatics, and our police have shown they cannot cope with these ‘hooligan’ types when they come to visit.
They'll sneak flares and bangers and all sorts in. Wont be hard for them to split up easily before a Police escort I would imagine. Hope everyone is safe tomorrow and that's why Rangers want folk to get their ticket collections as soon as possible for when the Spartak supporters arrive.

To be honest 1000 tickets is too many .

Get them bussed in , kettled to the stadium and in the ground surrounded by at least 3 rows of cops each , and mesh as well .

All bears be on guard please tomorrow especially those sitting in BF5 and GF1 as your in extreme danger of being attacked .

Those in the club deck also beware as you’ll be in amongst some Russians also and there likely will be no segregation whatsoever .

This on another scale, these Russians do MMA training at gyms and fight in forests constantly even the media has said it is going to be the most high risk game we will have at Ibrox in the group stages. The Rapid ultras broke one of the gates and about 6 of them made it outside after their goal.

So do all the Eastern Europeans mobs.

The Croatians got spanked :)

350 to kettle 1000 nut jobs ? Something wrong with the math there unless Police Scotland think their officers can each handle 3MMA kitted up mental Russians
These hooligans are highly organised and constantly train MMA as well as fighting on the weekends in the middle of nowhere.

Back in the day there was a reason for a minimum height of 5 foot 10 inches. The job attracted loads of big farmers sons from the western isles. We will be putting wee 5 foot lassies and some fat cnuts up against Russian hoolies.
Yeah big strong Teaucher bastards brave as %^*&, who werent afraid of you Glasgow folk:D

Many years ago i was at a function in Partick Borough Halls and one of the speakers was from Lewis and a policeman, he told a story about this English policeman who had arrested this chap, when asked by the duty sergeant why he was arrested, he replied, he was advocating having sexual relations with the head of the catholic church sir.:D:D

This follows Spartak Moscow hooligans who killed a Spanish police officer in Bilbao in February this year. Around 1,000 Spartak supporters will be in Glasgow for the Europa League game against Rangers.

I know it's the Sun but it was the only news source on this except from the Daily Rebel. More information can be found in the link below.

Yes don't give the sun the hits.

On the point of their flares and smoke bombs they won't be carrying them through customs,I'm wondering who might be supplying them if they get them,If they are green then we don't need to ask who gave them them.

This is the official statement from Spartak who have been speaking to Rangers security and the cops.

On the eve of the match of the third round of the Europa League group tournament "Spartak" - "Rangers" in Glasgow, a meeting was held with the participation of representatives of the red-white, the Scottish club security service and the British police.
At the suggestion of the host country, the gathering place for Spartak fans before the match will be the square in front of St Enoch Metro Station, located in the city center.

At about 6:00 pm local time, a special train will leave from St Enoch Station, which will proceed non-stop to Govan Station. And from there, fans of our team, accompanied by police, will be able to walk to Brumlon Road, where the Ibrox Stadium is located, within a few minutes.

Spartak fans are allocated sectors GW1, GW2 and GW3. In the immediate vicinity of the entrance to the guest tribune is a luggage room.

Please note that on the day of the match tickets for the guest sector will not be realized!

Those wishing to purchase Rangers merchandise are invited to visit the club store, located on the stands of Govan East, in advance. It is open daily from 9:00, while on the day of the match, starting at 17:00, access to the store for Spartak fans will be limited. At the guest tribune attributes will not be sold.

For security reasons, after the 80th minute of the match, the output from the guest sectors will be stopped and will resume 10-15 minutes after the final whistle. The police will escort Spartak fans to the Govan metro station, from where the train will go to St Enoch station.

The match of the youth teams “Rangers” and “Spartak” will also be held on October 25, at 14:30 local time (at 16:30 Moscow time) at the Forthbank stadium (Sterling city, Springkerse street, FK7 7UJ). The road from Glasgow to Stirling takes 45 minutes. Consider this in order to return to Glasgow in time for the first teams match.

Please note that the laws of Scotland strictly forbid drinking alcohol in the street. Do not violate the rules of conduct of the audience at the stadium, refrain from using pyrotechnics, do not fall for possible provocations. We remind you: FC Spartak-Moscow was punished by the UEFA disciplinary bodies for the behavior of fans during the last season, and in case of repeated violations the conditional disqualification will take effect.

do not fall for possible provocations:eek:

Spartak must have been told that we are nutters by the mhanky hordes.

I’ve said it before , why are there no fences round the away fans at Ibrox ?? It’s ridiculous putting folk s safety at risk when an 8ft fence and fine mesh or Perspex could stop all bother inside the stadium

I can see this failing big time tonight. If they get through the stewards/police in the ground i can see panic set in as people try and get away like what happened to the England fans in France.
