As so many have said they aren't fit for purpose. They are so short of staff they will literally employ anybody these days. When the forces merged it really went into decline. I personally know a few good guys that bailed out because of the state the force was in and either moved forces to BTP and the likes or jumped ship completely to a new industry. Now the guys that jumped over to BTP are in the same position again as Police Scotland will eventually absorb BTP in Scotland.

In the OPs case, in the days of Strathclyde Police the wee arseh*les that came to the OPs house would at the very least get a visit at their house and given a wee fright and stern talking to.

Police Scotland are an utterly pointless outfit in the most part.

As for the kids, they do need the literal kick in the chookies as above. Not a stern talking to - a physical boot up the arse by their parents.
