I noticed that ex player Steven Lennon is 33 today. First thing I thought of was this game almost 14 years ago, I remember the massive match thread in here! We hoped for great things from that group of young players, but like most teams from that age group some disappeared, some did ok, and few went on to play at a high level.

Nice memory though.

Rangers: Gallacher; McLachlan, Kinniburgh, Perry, Smith; Emslie (Djeziri 82), Furman, McMillan, Shinnie; Lennon (Little 78), Fleck. Subs not used: Sagar, Harvey, Ness.

Used to love watching that team on RTV when it game with virgin.

10 of that squad made a first team appearance. A fairly successful youth team.

This has bitter sweet memories for me, I had been at the game with a life long pal, and we ended up for a couple of pints in the Florida Park. where we bumped into a former school pal of ours Martin Shearer whom we hadn't seen in 30 plus years. Martin was a massive bear, and what a great catch up we had that night. Sadly Martin died a few short years later. He's yet another on the 55 toast list.
