Results will change after he gets his own players in.

Not a thread aimed specifically at Clement but more this line that seems to appear every year when we have a disappointing end to a season. Its assumed that given a good pre season and backing a manager with new players will automatically turn around being unable to put together a run of domestic wins and old firm results.

We have had 3 managers in recent years who all came in mid season and through different circumstances struggled domestically and couldn't change it despite being given the summer window and around 10 signings each.

Pedro - Alves, Jack, Cardoso, Candeias, Morelos, Herrera, Pena, Dorrans, Dalcio, Nemane, John

Gio - Davies, Yilmaz, Matondo, Colak, Souttar, Lawrence, Tillman. Jan signings Ramsey, Zukowski, Sands, Diallo

Beale - Danilo, Dessers, Lammers, Cifuentes, Sterling, Balogun, Butland, Dowell, Sima. Jan signings Cantwell Raskin

It won't be far from £40m in transfer fees across 3 managers who when they got the summer window only lasted to October/ November of the following season so in the end didn't get any time working with their own players.

Now we are at the beginning of another summer with the same calls as before for letting every player go and rebuilding the side again. Outside Gio who had European results and a Scottish cup win over them can anyone really say it was the right call in hindsight to put everything behind Pedro and Beale when there was so many red flags.

I am very much on the fence with Clement. When he came in he seemed like he would have a ruthless streak and make big changes, the evidence has been the exact opposite of continuing to play players out of form and looking to sign up Lundstram on a new deal. The January window wasn't great and has probably contributed to domestic results going wrong after March.

Overall I don't think the club can afford to have another season when we start with big doubts and then sack another manager in the first few months. While people seem to be rewriting history with Gerrard claiming he got loads of time its simply not the case. He came in and got an old firm win in his second attempt and continued to get results against them while he built his own team over a couple of years.

Its why we need a win in the Scottish cup. The fans need to believe that Clement has a system to beat them even if he doesn't have a squad of his own players to choose from. It might seem unfair but that is the reality of managing Rangers, you need to be able to win the old firm games to have any chance of success.
