Roofe's record broken

Daily record front page tomorrow..
BBC will be getting a piece of that action as well no doubt re-running the which is the better goal

Edit: as predicted they couldn’t wait and as for the part that says ‘Gomez's goal has caused some debate on social media, with some people claiming it should not have stood because the ball appeared to be moving when he hit it.’ You just know other way around it would read ‘the goal shouldn’t have stood as the ball was still moving when struck.’ Hope UEFA step and do the right thing by coming out and saying the goal shouldn’t stand but that would undermine the ref so can see it.

It was longer but not a patch on Roofes goal. Kemar beat 3 men in horrendous conditions and scored a screamer from open play.

The guy tonight had an unopposed kick at the ball, the goal shouldn't have been allowed anyway as the ball was still moving at a free kick..

Pedantic Loyal...

Ball was moving so shouldn’t have counted

Some strike right enough but not as good as Roofes
Never noticed but you are right good thinking though and lucky to get away with it as the player fouled was still on the ground and there was no second whistle to restart the game! However it has been counted and thats that!

Ballocks
1 It was a free kick and the ball was not stationary , so it shouldn't count.
2 He didn't beat three players in open play before he took the shot.
End of !

The record breaking aspect of Roofe's goal is a mere incidental. It will live long in the memory of all who witnessed it as one of the best, if not the, best Rangers goal ever recorded to date. Given the pitch and weather conditions, his beating of 4-5 opposition players depending on how you view it, and the fact he had to throw himself off his feet to make the delivery and with accuracy makes it the best IMO.
