We’d just been hammered 5-1 by that mob at the Piggery and as usual after these games my old fella phoned me. He said with fear in his voice I don’t think I’ll live to see Rangers win the league again son. They’re miles ahead. A year later it was his 70th birthday and one of the gifts I bought him was a bottle of Glenfiddich. He opened it and said thanks I’ll keep that for a special occasion. Since then he’s survived 2 strokes and health wise he hasn’t been great but he’s kept going and never let his ailments get him down. He’s just off the phone to me he said well tonight I’m going to open that bottle of Glenfiddich you got me for my 70th. I made it he said I’ve lived to see Rangers win the league again and tonight I’ll raise a glass to Steven Gerrard and the people who made this possible. His words gave me the biggest dose of goosebumps I’ve had in a while.
