On Sky’s advert, footage of their fans features one holding aloft a scarf with that IRA slogan. Can you imagine the backlash if it was a bear with the famine is over or similar?

After having this looked into, this was indeed unintentional on our part and no offence was intended. Our editor who created this promo, Declan Francis O’Malley, had never heard of this slogan before, and has never heard of the IRA, and is also a victim in all this.

I used to work with a family member of one of the producers on the Scottish football on Sky, he was a rabid unsurprisingly, it was heavily slanted to make them look more favourable, even little things before the game, they would show fans outside, Celtic fans laughing, singing etc, dancing about, they would show a couple of Bears with gear on maybe just walking to game. Of course it was like Celtic tv coverage just before kick off, YNWA etc.

Oddly, I played golf with someone who was high up in Setanta, before being poached to Sky - and now working contractor for both Sky and Premier Sports - who is a massive bear and has no stories of similar.

Always found Sky coverage pretty even.
Some of the people on the shows have hinted leanings, some clear and that is a pain at times.

During the 90s/early 00s I thought if anything the "neutral" Sky ones were willing Rangers to win.
