Success domestically and Europe possible at same time?

Think this has been the main reason were Gerrard has struggled and in a weird way become a victim of his own success. He seems reluctant to change a system (or type of personnel within the system) that has served him relatively well against much stronger sides than we’ll face week in week out domestically.
Looking back over the years particularly under Walter our league winning sides regularly struggled to transfer their league winning form into any form of European success (humpings to teams such as Unirea etc were common). Results such as these simply don’t ever look like happening under a Gerrard managed side but on the negative side his team never look capable of going on a 9-10 game winning run domestically that is needed to win leagues in our country. I reckon for next season he has bite the bullet and go all out to win domestically, this means loading the team middle to front with guys that’ll get the numbers upfront. Title winning sides of the past had guys like Novo, Lafferty etc chipping in 15 goals each per season which helped us go on the type of winning runs needed for titles. Their equivalents in the current are guys like Kent and Aribo who although more disciplined in the Europe stage are unable to hit anywhere near the number of goals and assists needed for a title winning side.
The only fairly recent example of managing both in same season was 2007-8 was when we seemlessly changed from 4-5-1 in Europe to 4-4-2 domestically and enjoyed a degree of success in both (was similar personnel but Boyd came in and done the damage domestically).

We had a successful Europe last year, and were inconsistent in Scotland, particularly at the start of last season away from home, and all season v Aberdeen and Killieven.
We've been successful in Europe again, but had an inconsistent 2020.
It's up to SG to analyse why and where we're going wrong. My worry is that he's not learning and repeating the same mistakes.
