The Fall and Rise of Darlington FC

Stayed in Darlo when i was young so have a bit of a soft spot for them. A real disgrace what reynolds did to that club. Building that stadium was absolute stupidity. Darlo never ever had the fan base for it, its a fairly big town but when i was at school nearly every kid supported Newcastle or Boro with a few sunderland and even leeds fans. They might go and watch darlington now and again but there wasnt that many actually supported them. Good to see they have some stability cos its like all these smaller provincial clubs that their actual supporters are as loyal as they come and they deserve some good times.

Mate worked for a builders merchants in Cumbria 20 odd year ago, reckoned Reynolds turned up one day with 20k in a briefcase, trying to buy some doors cheap.
 
Didn't Ralphy Brand manage them at some point in the distant past ?
Or is my memory playing tricks ?

He did back in the early 70's
