This feels like the final few games under Gio/Beale

I'm absolutely with you. As said on another thread, it's becoming difficult to argue that the core of our squad, the supposed senior players and leaders, are the problem. They bend like human palm trees at the sign of pressure.

And I remain convinced that it's a psychological thing. I know all teams thrive on confidence, but the manner of our repeated collapses puts you in mind of a team with collective PTSD.

I'm just worried about our ability to actually make those changes. We've had those 'squad clearout needed' threads since 55, and each time we end up being placated by having a few trophy signings, and the current squad putting in a few good performances when there's no pressure.
100% agree. When Clement joined my worry was that he was going to be the manager “before” we were consistently successful again. The guy who would have to usher out the old guard, deal with the likely step back that would cause and put us on a path to sustainable, consistent success

For me, the message he can send is to just not use the main offenders for the last few games of the season. I think it would be a mercy for some (Goldson, it is painful watching him), a reality check for others (Silva), a bit of future planning (life without undropable Tav) and a message that he asked them to show them what they were made of and he won’t tolerate these loser mentalities

It would be insane to even contemplate a new manager just now. When PC came in he inherited a fcking long-running shambles of a squad that already looked out of the title race.

He himself had to make remarks about not being a magician due to how poor we were.

Yet he took us to a place where we are actually seething at the title slipping away from us late-on and we’ve got a cup in the bag.

The legacy squad is the root problem and it needs ripped up.

Clement has worked borderline miracles in his time with us and, while absolutely having made some mistakes, it’s wild to suggest he’s the reason we’re seeing what we are right now.

This is now on the board to find a way to properly gut the spine of the team, remove the old guard who have long run out of chances and offload the abject shite they’ve thrown money at in the last year or two.

Let Clement go to the market and actually do a rebuild with his own core and team foundation. Not fluffing round the sides of the same serial runners-up.

Give him that opportunity and then be in a place to blame him if it doesn’t work.

The manager won’t be under any pressure yet but that did look like one of those games you see when a manager is about to be sacked. Which is incredible considering where we were just a few weeks ago.

Then do something about it.

There are guys in that team who can play as bad as they want and they'll play 90 minutes.

Either he changes it or he pays the price.
Change what? He doesn't have a left back he can trust, clearly diesnt rare Davies, King or Raskin, has options up front that are mediocre or are in dreadful form.

Add the dreadful general fitness of the squad the options are severely limited

There’s a common factor in the poor league campaigns in the last few seasons, and it isn’t Clement. The so-called leaders on the pitch need to go, not the manager.

Even leaving aside the Tav/Goldson/Lundstram axis, look at the ‘players’ Clement has been bequeathed: Barasic, Jack, Roofe, Davies, Raskin, Dessers, Lawrence, Dowall - either perma injured or done, or just plain crap. What is he meant to do? Even his 2 signings, who looked great, are out injured when it matters. Impossible to judge him now.

Clement is a superior manager than the previous, but the old guard must be called out and dropped.

Apart from their utter inability to cope under pressure, which is an absolute necessity for us, they continually let managers down. They've proudly failed us for too long.

We cannot bullet yet another manager within a year and allow the same wasters elsewhere in the club continue dragging us down.

It will be a never ending cycle. Every time we change manager we get the new manager bounce, but under the surface its another rebuild needed and sets us back a year.
It’s not just the never ending cycle,it’s also financially crippling the club.

No he couldn't. There is absolutely no way that Clement is leaving Rangers unless he himself quits the club. He'll get at least this summer to try and bring in his own players.

The squad needs to be completely gutted.
People don’t have the patience but it could take two or three transfer windows to get a playing squad that clement really wants,he can start making serious inroads on that in the summer.

Clement isn't getting the sack but has decision making has been hopeless when it's come to the business end of the season.

Just throwing shite at the wall and hoping it sticks.
THIS, making 3 or 4 changes every game wont work. Starts Wright against the beggers then he cant make the next squad !

Leadership starts at the top an

There is no urgency or creativity, same old story with corners and far to predictable to play against

The manger got his game plan wrong again and players started slowly.
The slow starts are a trait of this team when they feel under pressure.

Clement has spoken repeatedly about tempo and urgency to get the goals to kills teams off. Do you seriously think he's telling the players to go out there play it safe, dither on the ball and just keep the shape. Of course he's not.

Gerrard, Gio and Beale all spoke about being unhappy witn the slow starts and trying to change it.
