The first thing that happened when Gerrard came in, was he started adding Winners to the team. Or players who coudnt stand losing to them.
Walter Smith got us to a European final with a squad of players that were no where near the best in the competition, because he filled it full of players who understood what it meant to us, the support, to win

Is it time we start looking at Scottish football again to find the spine and sprinkle it with some flair from elsewhere

the only "on the pitch winners" he signed were Lafferty and McGregor
beyond that it was a collection of players that were either at clubs that didn't win big trophies or were bit part players
and those 2 were the only real diehard bluenoses signed too - maybe apart from Murphy tho he was hardly the same ilk

The Gerrard era aside from 1 season was just more of what we've seen this season.

It's not so much about winners it's more around the team Smith built probably want the most skillful compared to his previous teams but it was a hard working unit that could produce moments of brilliance

Smiths will power along probably too that team through games

Gerrard brought hard working unit back but if I'm being honest Smith was at training centre a lot I think he had a lot of influence over how Gerrard did things
