Match Thread Rangers v Dundee - 15:00 Saturday - RangersTV

Missed the game, how was Dessers and the quality of goals?
Dessers did alright. Scored through persistence, made a few decent runs.

Penalty was a stonewaller after another shirt pull, Tav put it away very well.

Third was a beautiful corner from Tav straight into the head of Sima who bulleted it past Carson like he was peak-Terry Butcher.

Joke of a red card for Cifuentes, which naturally allowed the arseholes to pile on him instead of supporting the lad.

Defended resolutely after that. Good team performance pulling together to keep the win.

Impressed with the way the manager reshuffled the side to make sure of the three points, even if it killed the game as a spectacle. Just our luck to lose a man just when it looked like we were going to run rampant though.

I think the Cifuentes call could have gone either way. It looked worse the more it was replayed, but did seem too bad in real time. However, Clancy was absolutely shocking today. How Lamie got to the 89th minute before receiving a card is beyond me. I didnt see anything wrong with Cantwell's goal, and he missed another stonewell penalty when Lamie wrestled Dessers to the ground at the end of the move where Tav hit the bar. Giving Borna a card for obstruction (and the gaffer one for complaining) just after Lamie almost ripped Dessers shirt off laid his bias clear for all to see. It was a disgraceful display of refereeing today

Still three more important points. Some more minutes for Roofe, and Dessers starting to find where the goal is. All in all a satisfactory day

WATP!

Just on way home from game. Still raging from that cnut Clancy. He never changes. The non-booking for the pull on Dessers summed it up. The 4th goal was a goal not a foul. If the red card hadn’t happened we would have got 7 minimum. Great performance from Sima again. Butland nearly put us in trouble 3 times with short passes around the box. He needs to understand we are not Man City and that is a dangerous thing to do. Good performance all round given everything and it’s 3 points and up the road,

Sima my MOTM. What a header for his goal!

Didn´t think the midfield combo of Lundstram and Cifuentes worked. Otherwise a solid if unspectacular performance with a quite a few what ifs thrown in. IMHO Cantwells goal should never have been chopped off, Cifuentes shouldn´t have been red carded plus Tav and Sterling were close to scoring a couple of fantastic goals.

I expected Cantwell to be subbed, because when you're a man down, discipline is very important. Correct decision to sub him.

Discipline in what sense? I think playing as close to the same tactically as the first half where it should have been 4-1 should have been obvious. Cantwell can play 1 deeper. Just keep moving the ball and attacking, Dundee had nothing. We ended up with a very weird line up. Game could have been more comfortable.

Get it right up you, you bastard Clancy. Just hope we can get Cifuentes' red overturned, wouldn't get my hopes up though. Over to the scum tomorrow.

That wasn't pretty. But it was a test of character and we got through it fairly comfortably in the end. Remember losing the late equaliser to Hibs under Gio after the ref - sure it was the same rate as today - sent Lundstram and Morelos off. We didn't come close to that today. We lacked the cutting edge to smash them but with limited options and a cheat of a ref, we worked out arsed off and did the job.

Lots to work on but a good start to a massive week.
We would have won by for or five if it wasn't for that cheat of a ref.

If he hadn't went for it, half of this board would be calling him a shitebag. Bakayoko slid in our of control with both feet up, but Cifu gets the red card. Where was he supposed to put his left foot having committed to challenging for the ball?
Was always going to be a red in review. No point in arguing otherwise these days with VAR in operation.

Good first half performance, we coped well enough being a man down in the second.

Clancy is an absolute joke of a referee, today was down there with the very worst of the performances we’ve seen from him. Out and out cheating.

Does help that he wasn’t expected to be so soon after his Patella surgery. In Italy the talk was January before he would be fully back.
He looks like a player that doesn't trust his body/know where he can push himself

He's definitely got ability, good at a press and excellent at winning the ball back.

If we hadn't been cheated in the first game against them a lot of people would be viewing him differently imo

Especially when the player slides in like he done. Where does Cifu go?
Theres nowhere to go when a player slides in on you. He managed to keep his feet and challenge again for the ball. Cifu didnt go straight leg or anything in the slightest that would endanger the player. I'd even argue the Dundee players feet were off the ground when the red card contact was made.

Great win in the circumstances

Onto Seville with a squad down to its bare bones
Agree entirely with this. Hard though it is to not win a game, how about we put a shadow team out on Thursday, gamble on Aris drawing to keep us in The Europa, and save the remaining first team players for the cup final. Know that’s not the Rangers way, but we’ve never been missing 5/6 midfield players before in the same week.We aren’t winning the Europa with Liverpool in it anyway.

Within the talk in Italy was his rehab was specialist treatment and he couldn’t be rushed etc and yet I was shocked he pastrd the medical and has started this season.

It’s not shocked me how bad he’s been as you said it’s clear he doesn’t trust his body and isn’t comfortable at doing the things that made him good.
