Colak - no doubt he's our main striker now

Did more in 15 mins than Morelos did in 75 mins and was very unlucky not to score.

Has to start next week at Ibrox, looking more and more likely that Morelos time with us is approaching the end. Barely any service today but he looked disinterested and showed how not to play the lone striker role.

Colak did well and only a good tackle from Milner and a good save stopped time scoring. 11 goals as well this season, has to play every week now.

Absolute bollocks. Got a couple of good chances (well one great) only after they took their foot off the gas, and blew both of them. Can you imagine the gloating and the snideyness that would be emanating from the usual suspects if it was Morelos that blasted the ball right at the keeper? “Aww no composure at all, Colak would have lifted that over the keeper” etc etc.

I’m sure Morelos would have loved the little bit of service he got in the dying embers.

We changed formation, that was the difference.

He got service whereas Morelos didn't.

He was too slow with that chance and should have hit it much earlier than he did.

This is not a criticism of Colak, just how it panned out.

To be fair, Alfie had zero service.

It could also be argued that Colak missed a very good chance then hesitated instead of putting his laces through it.

I say that as someone who has given Alfie pelters in the past.

The other subs played a massive part in how the game went for the two players.

The team that finished tonight should be out srarting 11 for the return leg, they did more in the last 15 mins than the whole match,we caused Liverpool some problems with our changes

What was it you are referring to mate ?

You’ve lost me. Did I miss something ?

The team that finished was the team that should have started, apart from Ben Davioes who i thought was excellent.
Sakala sparked us into life.

Alfy looked really off it. Colak our main man without a doubt.

We played so much better with matondo and Fashion on the wings, direct and threatened with pace.

I was sceptical about his signing but he is our #1 striker. Scores goals easy as that.

When Colak came on he had Matondo and Sakala either side causing problems with their pace. Not to mention the fact Liverpool had totally taken the foot off the gas and we’re allowing us to have possession along our back 5 on the half way line, which gave us the foundation to feed the ball into Sakala/Matondo/Colak. Before that the back 5 and midfield had no sustained possession, no time on the ball and provided kent and Morelos with nothing. Had Colak started and been isolated for 75 mins, then Alfie brought on for the final 15, you’d be saying the opposite.

That said Colak is our in form striker at the moment, and no one can deny he is a good player and definitely our biggest goal scoring threat. Domestically the two simply have to both be on the park. It’s down to pure stubbornness to change a failing formation/system that leaves us in a position of having to chose 1 of the 2.

Morelos needs the service which he didn’t get tonight. Colak is/should be the main man for the striking role but the problem is the manager hasn’t decided yet who it should be, saying that GVB has still not got a clue about his best team!!!!!!!!!!!

You have a good point.

But....was Alfie ahead of Colak justified? Not at all.

So many of our fans don't understand football. Blaming the striker when he has no service and the midfield is non existent. Learn to watch Football matches properly and actually watch the game as it unfolds.
Why play him ahead of our form striker? He's not being blamed but it was a very poor call.

People are getting way to excited about 10-15 mins where Liverpool dropped a level or 2.

Colak should have scored 2. No idea why he took a touch for his 2nd chance...absolutely crazy. I love him domestically but if people are thinking this game would have gone much different had Colak started or even if Matondo and Sakhala also started then they are living in lala land.
The only thing that would have been different is Sakhala would have worked his arse off whereas Tillman just simply isn't interested in playing on the right.
